Field technician for Heat-Gravitas project

The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

ISGlobal is looking for an experienced physiotherapist and project manager to work as field technician and scientific coordinator in the Heat-Gravitas project a project funded by the Canadian Governments New Frontiers in Research Fund (NFRFI Heat-Gravitas aims to understand how indoor environmental quality affects health and wellbeing in older adults residing in Barcelona.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Participation in preparatory work of the Heat-Gravitas project
• Provide experience in systematic and scoping reviews of the literature.
• Provide experience in coordination of local data collection of older adults in their homes and "outside".
• Provide experience in health and wellbeing assessments in older adults.
• Collect objective health data at high temporal resolution using wearable devices in field studies
• Coordinate feedback provided to participants from data collected within the Heat-Gravitas
• Assist with maintenance of project website

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

• Doctorate in Biomedicine, Epidemiology, Public health or similar
• Experience in systematic and scoping reviews of the literature.
• Experience in coordination of local and international, multi-center data collection of older adults.
• Experience in traditional and innovative assessments of health and wellbeing parameters in older adults.
• Knowledge/experience about mobility limitations in the elderly
• Knowledge in objective health data collection using wearable devices in field studies

LANGUAGE LEVEL

• Proficiency in Catalan, English, and Spanish.

CONDITIONS

• Duration: 6 months
• Starting date: 01/01/2026
• Contract Type: Part time
• Salary: Technician I B – € gross annual for a full-time (40h/week) position. Final salary will be adjusted according to the agreed part-time schedule.

SELECTION PROCESS

The selection process is designed in two phases:

1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.

2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.

If needed any technical test could be passed. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.

In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will start the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. A profile questionnaire as well as a technical exercise may be required during the process.
