Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly capable and motivated
Systems Engineer
to join our infrastructure team. This role is responsible for building, managing, and supporting hybrid infrastructure with a strong emphasis on virtualization, automation, cloud platforms, and monitoring. The ideal candidate brings expertise in
VMware
,
Pure Storage
,
Terraform
,
HAProxy
,
AWS/OCI
,
Zabbix
, and both
Windows
and
Oracle Linux
systems. The role also requires participation in a
24x7 on-call support rotation
to ensure infrastructure uptime and responsiveness to critical issues.

Key Responsibilities

Virtualization & Storage

  • Manage and optimize
    VMware vSphere
    environments including ESXi hosts and vCenter.
  • Provision and monitor enterprise storage using
    Pure Storage
    platforms.
  • Perform storage capacity planning, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.

Server Administration

  • Provision, configure, and maintain
    Windows Server
    and
    Oracle Linux
    systems across environments (dev, staging, production).
  • Perform OS-level patching, security hardening, and lifecycle management.

Load Balancing with HAProxy

  • Deploy and manage
    HAProxy
    for load balancing across internal and external Sportradar product services.
  • Ensure high availability and traffic optimization across services and regions.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

  • Design and maintain
    Terraform-based
    infrastructure automation for consistent, repeatable deployments.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and CI/CD teams to integrate IaC into pipeline workflows.

Cloud Infrastructure (AWS/OCI)

  • Deploy, configure, and support infrastructure and services in
    AWS
    and/or
    Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
    .
  • Support hybrid-cloud strategy and assist with cloud migration initiatives.

DNS & Networking

  • Manage
    DNS records
    , zones, and routing configurations for internal and public-facing domains.
  • Assist in troubleshooting network-related issues across environments.

Monitoring & Observability

  • Set up, configure, and maintain
    Zabbix
    for infrastructure monitoring.
  • Proactively identify and respond to incidents and performance bottlenecks.

Automation & Scripting

  • Write and maintain scripts using
    PowerShell
    ,
    Bash
    , or
    Python
    to automate operational tasks.
  • Build tools and utilities to improve deployment and management workflows.

Support & Incident Response

  • Participate in a
    24x7 on-call support rotation
    to respond to critical incidents and infrastructure outages.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts during incidents and ensure root cause analysis and resolution documentation.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of experience as a systems or infrastructure engineer.
  • Strong knowledge of
    VMware vSphere (ESXi/vCenter)
    and
    Pure Storage
    technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with
    HAProxy
    setup and configuration for load balancing.
  • Proficiency with
    Terraform
    and infrastructure as code practices.
  • Experience administering
    Oracle Linux
    and
    Windows Server
    systems.
  • Working experience with
    AWS
    and/or
    Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
    .
  • Solid understanding of
    DNS
    , TCP/IP, and network troubleshooting.
  • Experience with
    Zabbix
    for monitoring server and service availability.
  • Scripting and automation using
    PowerShell
    ,
    Bash
    , or
    Python
    .
  • Strong documentation and troubleshooting skills.
  • Willingness and ability to participate in a
    rotating 24x7 on-call schedule
    .
