Our platform combines transcriptomics (RNA-seq), genetics, and explainable machine learning to generate dynamic, sex-specific insights into the functional state of 47 human tissues, enabling early detection of biological dysfunction long before it becomes clinically evident.

We are a small, highly technical team entering a key phase of product scaling and industrialization, working with partners across biotech, pharma, and research.

The Role: DevOps Technical Lead
We are looking for a DevOps Technical Lead to own and evolve the infrastructure, scalability, and reliability of the BASE4 platform.

This is a hands-on, senior role with strong architectural ownership. You will design and lead the technical foundations that allow complex biological data pipelines and ML models to run reliably, reproducibly, and at scale.

You will work closely with:

• Bioinformatics engineers
• Data scientists / ML engineers
• The founding team (science & product)

What You Will Do

• Platform & Infrastructure
• Design and maintain cloud-native infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) for large-scale data processing and analytics.
• Build a robust, scalable, and reproducible platform capable of handling high-throughput molecular data.
• Define infrastructure patterns that support growth from early projects to continuous production workloads.
• DevOps & MLOps
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for code, data workflows, and ML models.
• Orchestrate data and ML pipelines (e.g. RNA-seq processing, feature generation, model execution).
• Monitor system performance, reliability, security, and cloud costs.
• Lay the foundations for MLOps best practices (model versioning, deployment, monitoring).
• Security & Reliability
• Apply strong practices around data security, access control, and auditability.
• Ensure high availability and fault tolerance.
• Prepare the platform for future compliance and quality requirements (without unnecessary bureaucracy).
• Technical Leadership
• Act as the DevOps authority within the company.
• Define standards, tooling, and best practices.
• Contribute to technical decision-making and long-term architecture.
• Support future hiring and mentoring as the team grows.

What We're Looking For
Must-have:

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Infrastructure roles.
• Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Solid knowledge of Docker, containers, and orchestration (Kubernetes or equivalent).
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong sense of ownership and technical judgment.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with data-intensive systems, ML platforms, or scientific computing.
• Exposure to bioinformatics, genomics, or healthcare data (not required).
• Startup or scale-up experience.
• Familiarity with MLOps, reproducibility, or regulated environments.
