Our team continues to grow, and we're looking for a
Senior Java Engineer
with strong experience in
embedded systems
to lead a major modernization project within our access‑control platform running on Linux.

The primary mission of this role is to drive the migration of a
large and complex legacy codebase from Java 8 to Java 17
. Once the migration is complete, the engineer will also update several critical dependencies, including
Jetty
and serial communication libraries.

Beyond this, the role includes contributing to complementary tasks such as enhancing a small
HTML‑based configuration interface
used within the system.

Hybrid – Madrid (2 days onsite)

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the migration of existing Java 8 code to Java 17, ensuring full compatibility and system stability
  • Update and migrate key dependencies (Jetty, serial communication libraries, etc.)
  • Refactor and optimize critical components during the migration process
  • Support improvements to the HTML web environment used for system configuration
  • Participate in code reviews and promote best development practices
  • Integrate and validate changes within embedded Linux environments


Mandatory Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in embedded software development
  • Strong proficiency in Java, including version migrations
  • Experience updating dependencies and managing compatibility
  • Solid understanding of Linux environments
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, serial communication)
  • Familiarity with HTML and basic web interfaces
  • Experience working in Windows environments
  • English level B2 (technical communication & documentation)
