Position Overview:
Key Responsibilities:

- Lead and support the implementation of data governance tooling and projects, including data catalog solutions, from idea to completion.
- Develop and enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, security, and compliance.
- Establish and maintain governance standards around data lineage, quality management, and reporting by collaborating with governance leaders and relevant business units.
- Collaborate with data owners, technical teams, embedded business analysts and stakeholders to ensure accurate and consistent data definitions and standards.
- Monitor, identify, and remediate data risks and issues within workstreams.
- Conduct data quality assessments and implement improvement initiatives.
- Provide training and support to data users on data governance best practices and the use of data governance tools.
- Improve internal technical documentation of data processes and procedures.
- Set and manage OKRs, and interface with PMO to establish priorities, provide recurring progress updates and ensure projects are staying on track toward business goals.
- Stay updated with changing regulations, policies, and industry trends in data governance and data cataloging.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or other data related fields.
- Understanding of data governance principles and/or a willingness to learn best practices.
- Foundational understanding of regulatory requirements related to data governance (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Familiarity with Excel/Sheets and SQL or a SQL-like language.
- Basic understanding of big data environments (e.g., BigQuery, AWS Athena, Airflow).
- Experience working with technical, data and business teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with a diverse team of stakeholders.
- Experience with a data catalog tool is a bonus.
- Interest in the media/publishing industry and/or subscription business is a bonus.
