Created in 2005 by the Generalitat de Catalunya (Government of Catalonia) and the University of Barcelona, IRB Barcelona is a Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence—a seal that was awarded in 2011.

The institute is devoted to conducting research of excellence in biomedicine and to transferring results to clinical practice, thus improving people’s quality of life, while simultaneously promoting the training of outstanding researchers, technology transfer, and public communication of science. Its 29 laboratories and seven core facilities address basic questions in biology and are orientated to diseases such as cancer, metastasis, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, and rare conditions.

IRB Barcelona is an international centre that hosts 500 members and 45 nationalities. It is located in the Barcelona Science Park. IRB Barcelona forms part of the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) and the “Xarxa de Centres de Recerca de Catalunya” (CERCA).

IRB Barcelona is seeking a talented and motivated **Senior Postdoctoral Researcher** to join the Biomedical Genomics Lab led by Dr. Núria López-Bigas at IRB Barcelona.

The position involves contributing to the development of innovative bioinformatics projects to study cancer genomics in different aspects.

This position is co-funded by the project _Discovering the molecular signatures of cancer PROMotion to INform prevENTion_, supported by Cancer Research UK and NIH, under grant number CGCATF-2021/100008.

**Key responsibilities**
- Developing bioinformatics analysis of genomic data
- Preparing reports and manuscripts in collaboration with other researchers.
- Engage in interdisciplinary projects to enhance research outcomes.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative research environment.
- Provide guidance and support to junior researchers, including PhD students and technicians.
- Assist in training team members in data analysis and bioinformatics tools.
- Foster a culture of scientific inquiry and innovation within the research group.
- Contribute to the organization of scientific events and outreach activities.
- Engage in institutional activities and initiatives as required.
- Commitment to scientific integrity and ethical research practices.
- Proven experience in bioinformatics projects, specifically in cancer genomics.
- Excellent analytical skills, creativity, and a team-oriented mindset.
- A proactive and enthusiastic approach to research challenges.

**You have**
- A PhD in Biomedicine, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or similar.
- A Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Sciences, or similar.
- Professional experience in a similar role or related field.
- Programming skills ( bash, R, python, nextflow)
- Experience in HPC environments and in cloud computing
- Fluency in English (spoken and written).
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary research.
- Ability to propose innovative research ideas and approaches.
- Proven Experience in bioinformatics tools and computational analysis.
- Commitment to scientific integrity and ethical research practices.

**You might also have**
- Experience in grant writing and securing research funding.
- Experience in Cancer research ( more than 6 years).
- Experience in projects involving different Genomic Data Bases.
- Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively
- Ability to present complex scientific concepts clearly.
- Proactive attitude towards learning and adapting new techniques.
