Senior Video Systems Engineer

With Plexus TV there is no need to change the on-board AV network as it integrates with your existing systems, allowing you to handle the Plexus IPTV stream as just another input source.

OmniAccess developed a world-class video distribution platform for the superyachting environment. And now that platform is growing even more with live TV channels, VOD content, and any customized content. Plexus TV supports anything from SH, HD, all the way up to Ultra-HD/4K using less bandwidth than any other IPTV solution, as it is optimized for the Broadbeam VSAT link.

You would be working on building out the next generation of the OmniAccess’ video delivery solution, supporting new content integrations, and creating new products on top of it for the super-yachting segment, a unique opportunity to put your stamp, create the difference and have true technical ownership on the way content is delivered to the yachts.

We are searching for a Video Systems Engineer to be part of the PlexusTV team. He/She will oversee the evolution and operation of the PlexusTV hardware platform. In collaboration with a video developer’s teammates, your main duty will be:

- Work with other engineers to maintain and evolve our video playout, encoding, and distribution platforms
- Investigate and resolve encoding issues in a video streaming environment
- Support streaming related production systems when required
- Work with development teams on re-architecture/modernizing existing systems
- Improve end-to-end video experiences on lossy networks in various user scenarios
- Identify various opportunities to optimize in video codec, pipeline, error resilience
- Define the video optimization roadmap for both low-end and high-end network and devices
- Lead the definition and implementation of media processing pipeline
- Troubleshoot encoding and transmission equipment, monitor and evaluate distribution systems performance
- Resolve support requests and perform corrective and preventive maintenance to playout systems equipment, including but not limited to: Media Servers, TVU Playout Automation, Media Networks, AVC and HEVC Encoding Systems, Routing and Switching equipment and storage
- Install, upgrade, and maintain software and hardware-based play-out and distribution systems

**Requirements**:
**What we’re looking for**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
- Experience with AVC, HEVC, VP9, AV1, AAC video and audio codec standards
- Experience in architecting end to end video streaming infrastructure
- Knowledge of ffmpeg and/or similar software-based audio & video management
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and networking issues in file-based play-out, video networks, and digital media encoding platforms
- Ability to create basic scripting and automation rules for video-oriented infrastructure
- Proficiency with server and workstation operation, configuration, and support
- Ability to follow through on support requests in a timely manner, escalating to other members of the team or manufacturer support when appropriate
**Valued skills and knowledge**
- Experience in Agile ways of working
- Strong communication skills in English (written & spoken); Spanish is a plus
- Experience in datacenter, rack mounting, wiring tasks related to video systems
- Module level configuration and repair experience
- In depth understanding of digital audio and video signals, compression methodologies, codecs, and standards
- System level support experience
- Ability to troubleshoot distribution equipment such as plant routers, DA’s, sync generators, monitoring equipment, 5.1 multichannel audio and audio processing equipment
- Knowledge of IPTV-based delivery systems, and VOD OTT platforms is a plus
