Principal Engineering Manager

We are looking for a talented and passionate Principal Engineering Manager to lead our Dating Engineering teams.

**What will you do?**

Our main goal is to maintain and improve our dating sites, with more than 100K new users per day, mainly from the US. We are also exploring and testing new dating products. We do this by using the most modern technologies including AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Cypress, using micro-components, Domain Events... As well as using good practices and DDD. We’re proud to be working with Symfony, PHP 7+, Vue.js, and a wide range of modern technologies. This is all done using agile methodologies, working with Kanban, Sprints, and Jira daily. Continuous improvement, learning, and practicing new things are always welcomed.

As Principal Engineering Manager, you will lead our three Engineering Managers in the Dating Engineering teams, composed of Front, Full-stack, and Backend engineers, SDET, QA engineers, Tech Leads, and Product Owners.

**Main tasks**
- Organize the Dating engineering teams.
- Define the medium and long-term engineering strategy.
- Mentor and support our Engineering Managers and Tech Leads in their work.
- Work alongside the Product Director and the PO’s to support the product direction.
- Work with the Engineering Managers and the Tech Leads on the technical roadmap.
- Create and promote a team culture in the dating engineering teams.
- Career planning, promotions, and coaching.
- Headcount planning and hiring.
- Team productivity and metrics.
- Alignment with other teams in the company.

**Requirements**:

- Strong verbal and written communication skills (English).
- 3+ years of management and leadership experience.
- Experience mentoring technical managers (Engineering Managers, Tech Leads).
- Ability to balance good software design (enabling the product to grow) with fast prototyping (enabling the fast testing of new features).
- Experience designing complex systems and leading big refactors (in an incremental way).
- Experience scaling teams.
- Experience designing the hiring process and hiring engineers.
- In addition to this, we are looking for somebody with a strong sense of ownership and independence, somebody who can represent engineering at the different levels of the business, who can have a vision, a plan, and a voice, and can step in on the decisions.
