**ABOUT ARDENA**

Ardena is a contract development and manufacturing organization for the pharmaceutical industry. We assist pharmaceutical companies, from virtual biotech to big pharma, in bringing their valued molecule(s) to the clinic and market. We provide a comprehensive and integrated portfolio of services spanning from drug substance, drug product, and bioanalytical services through to regulatory dossier development.

Ardena is a rapidly growing international orientated organization with a dedicated team of over 500 professionals operating from 6 sites across Europe. The **drug product related services** include technology screening, formulation development and upscaling, analytical development, GMP manufacturing, packaging, labelling and supply. Ardena’s drug product services are executed on two Ardena sites: one in Belgium (Ghent) and one in Spain (Pamplona).

**Ardena Pamplona** (former Idifarma, was acquired by Ardena in 2021 and operating since than as an Ardena business unit) is focused on the development of oral solid drugs with a specialization in Spray Drying and high potency. We are looking for a Business Unit Director who will manage, expand and support an ever-growing expert team, guide them through the transition within Ardena and is eager to take part in the further development of the Ardena drug product and service offering.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**

The Business Unit Director (BUD) Drug Product Development and Manufacturing is accountable for the performance of the business unit Ardena Pamplona. You manage the capacity of your unit in terms of people, equipment and facilities. You go for optimal capacity utilization, striking a balance between current and projected workload. In case of capacity constraints, you prioritize what matters. You have full Business Unit P&L responsibility.

Moreover, you ensure a customer and business-oriented mindset in your team. You’re fostering and maintaining a strong relationship with the Ardena customers and prospects.

Overall, you’re a people manager. You provide leadership and assistance to your team. You enable and facilitate the professional development of your team members.

You will report to the PHARM Division Manager of Ardena. Together with two other BUDs, the PHARM Head of Sales and the PHARM scientific director, you’re a member of the PHARM division management team.

**YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIE**S**
- You’re responsible for the yearly allocation of OPEX and CAPEX budgets within your BU.
- You balance and optimize capacity utilization in terms of people, equipment and infrastructure.
- You establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators and take appropriate action to ensure commercial, operational and financial performance goals of the business unit are achieved. You have full P&L responsibility.
- You supervise, coach, and structure your operational teams and working processes to ensure overall performance of the business unit.
- You are responsible for the continuous implementation of (corporate) systems and alignment of procedures.
- Supported by the sales team, you’re hosting prospective customers that are brought to your division. You’re responsible for efficient customer project execution and daily customer relationship. You make sure your team stays project and customer focused and is providing optimal professional services to our customers.
- You’re a people manager. You create a harmonious working environment by streamlining all activities, encouraging teamwork and promoting effective communication.
- You’re responsible for the scientific quality of the drug product projects. You make sure the know-how of your team is up to date and secured and ensure proper recruitment and training.
- You align with other divisions, business units and functions in the Ardena group and strive for synergy, cross-selling, and collaboration with peer colleagues. You will contribute to strategic plans to further integrate the drug product services with other services of the Ardena services platform.
- You analyze market/customer needs and benchmark competition. You identify new business opportunities and present them for approval to the PHARM division management team

**YOUR PROFILE**
- You have a master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences (or equivalent through experience). A post-graduate qualification in science or business is preferred.
- You have at least 10 years of pharma working experience in a leadership role (preferred in a CMO or CDMO environment)
- You’re an expert in drug product development and you understand the challenges and risks in early phase development projects from pre-clinical to phase I/II/III. You’re familiar with early phase GMP quality and regulatory standards
- You are an executive with strong commercial, technical and managerial skills that possesses the financial skills to be responsible for the P&L of the business unit
