IFF is very excited to welcome a new “Senior Innovation Chemical Engineer” to our team, and we hope it’s you You will join a talented multidisciplinary team located in the R&D hub in Benicarlò (Spain). As part of the team you will be aimed to provide innovative technical solutions for the short, mid and long term challenges under a cost-performance, operative and environmental perspective.
**Job Description**:
- On this role you will be responsible for scouting, evaluation, and development of new reaction technologies for the fragrance ingredients business involving state of the art research, contact with vendors, feasibility studies, and design of trials and “proof-of-concept”.
- You will raise and develop (local and global) projects for process optimization under a cost reduction and/or sustainability point of view.
- You will contribute, broaden and maintain and constant review of project portfolio in the mid and long term to ensure, support and improve IFF competitive position in the market.
- You will provide support in all projects (industrial, pilot or laboratory scale) related to the use of heterogeneous catalyst based on a solid and strong background in this field.
- You will support the implementation of new molecules in IFF selecting the proper technology and process procedures based on the analysis of reaction performance at lab and pilot plant scale
- You will support the scale-up and implementation of new technologies o process optimization projects.

**Required Skills**:
- PhD in chemical engineering (heterogeneous catalyst, continuous processing)
- Chemical engineering degree
- English fluency is mandatory
- Excellent technical reporting (written, oral group presentations)
- Teamwork (multidisciplinary/international teams)
- Other general skills: Analyzing Information, Reporting Research Results, Dealing with Complexity, Drafting, strong Analytical Tools, Attention to Detail, Innovation, Job Knowledge, Innovation, Problem Solving, Strategic and Planning, Technical Understanding, Thoroughness.
Required Experience
- Proven 3-4 years’ experience in the development of laboratory activities related to the build-up, handling and operation of lab scale reactors (fixed bed, batch, CSTR) and analytical techniques, design of experiments, analysis and data collection and interpretation.
- Proven 3-4 years’ experience on process performance analysis and interpretation (laboratory and industrial plant scale): Data collection, calculation, handling and interpretation; detailed definition of process limitation and rationalized (reaction kinetics, mass transfer, mixing effects, process procedures ) proposal of potential chances of improvement.
- Excellent reporting skills (oral and written)
- Excellent project planning (desk stage, planning, allocation of resources, follow-up)
- Proven experience in leading and management of (technical) teams developing applied R&D projects.
Valuated technical expertise in:
- Detailed engineering basics: mixing, heat transfer, mass transfer
- Separation technologies
- Programing in Excel (power pivot, visual basic) or similar (data handling)
- Experience in project management (planning and execution) tools
