Senior Product Engineer (Backend) — Developer Products Join us at Kota as a Senior Product Engineer (Backend) on the Kota Embed team. We are building the first fully integrated benefits platform and a next‑generation embedded insurance and retirement product. Role Overview As a senior engineer, you will design and build resilient systems, APIs, and SDKs that power embedded benefits for platforms worldwide. You will own technical architecture, incident response, and continuous improvement of developer‑facing experiences. Responsibilities Drive innovation by building and enhancing APIs and embed products. Collaborate with designers, engineers, integrations, and benefit experts to create reliable, scalable, and secure solutions. Serve as an incident responder for technical issues, fostering a blameless culture of learning. Research, design, and implement enhancements that strengthen product reliability and developer experience. Architect and build new features for customer‑facing APIs and SDKs. Transform internal workflows into self‑service features that delight customers. Lead technical efforts to resolve customer‑reported issues as part of the incident response team. Qualifications 8+ years building backend systems with expertise in .NET (latest 8+), SQL databases, ORMs, and automated test frameworks. Cloud experience with Azure or AWS. Experience building API products in fintech, payroll, or benefits is a plus. Strong collaborator who thrives in cross‑functional teams and enjoys solving complex challenges. Track record of delivering value to customers or users, collaborating directly with product teams and designers. Availability of at least 5 hours of overlap with GMT working hours. Senior or mid‑senior level engineering experience. Full‑time employment. Job function: Engineering and Information Technology. Benefits Competitive salary and equity in a fast‑growing start‑up.
