Postdoctoral Fellow

IRB Barcelona and Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) are seeking an **experienced postdoctoral fellow **in **mouse models of carcinogenesis, immunotherapy and genome evolution**. The position is to be based primarily at Cancer Biology laboratory led by Prof. Ana Janic at the Department of Medicine and Life Sciences, Universitat Pompeu Fabra (MELIS/UPF), and in collaboration with IRB Barcelona, lab of ICREA Prof. Fran Supek.

The collaborative project “POTENT-IMMUNO” of the IRB Barcelona and the UPF, funded by the La Caixa charitable foundation, is aimed at the identification of novel therapeutic strategies to potentiate immunotherapy, using mouse models of lung tumours and lymphoma.

Start date is as soon as possible.

**DUTIES**:

- generation of novel syngeneic models using the CRISPR/Cas9 in mouse
- testing of novel combinatorial therapies involving targeted therapies and immune checkpoint inhibitors.
- characterization of the mechanism of action for drug combinations
- measuring various physiological endpoints (tumor growth, survival, immune infiltration etc).
- perform excellent research according to the high standards of the UPF/MELIS and IRB Barcelona
- publish results in top-tier journals
- present at lab meetings, project meetings, at department seminars, and at conferences
- engage in teamwork with other members of the host lab to facilitate progress on the project
- participate in the project activities joint with the other labs: meetings, presentations, visits to other labs, collaboration, exchange of data sets, preparing project reports

**EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS**:
**Must Have - Required**
- **Experience**:PhD degree in biological, biomedical sciences or alike, with a Background in e.g. Immunology or Cancer Biology or similar.
- Experience in various biochemistry and cell biology techniques, e.g. flow cytometry, cellculture, immunohistochemistry, tissue processing.
- **Skills**:Autonomous person with teamwork skills and ability to work in various projects.

**Desirable**
- **Experience**:Previous experience with mouse models of disease is desirable. Experience in hematopoietic stem cell primary culture would be an additional plus but is not required.
- **Skills**: Excellent organizational skills. Good working knowledge of written and spoken English.
- **Track record**:one or more first-author publications in reputable journals, or a preprinted manuscript demonstrating relevant experience and excellence in research.

**WORKING CONDITIONS & ENTITLEMENTS**:

- **Working conditions**: The contract will be with the UPF University. Employed in compliance with Spanish legislation and regulations under a full-time contract. Employees receive the benefits of the Spanish Social Security system covering sickness, maternity/paternity leaves and injuries at work.
