**Context And Mission**
- The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) is seeking a Research Engineer to
join our Computational Social Science and Humanities Laboratory as part of the AI
Factory initiative. The AI Factory is a European project accelerating AI adoption
across industry sectors, particularly supporting SMEs and startups while
strengthening the European innovation ecosystem.

The AI Factory leverages the MareNostrum5 supercomputer's specialized AI
partition to provide comprehensive AI services and support. The selected
initiatives, contributing to organizational capability assessments and framework
development for AI adoption across participating institutions and public
administration entities.

Key responsibilities include implementing data curation practices and FAIR principles
(Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable). Working alongside senior

This position offers the opportunity to contribute to AI readiness strategies that
combine technical capabilities with data stewardship excellence, working within a
dynamic team environment that bridges computational innovation with practical
AI implementation across European public and private sectors.

**Key Duties**
- Support the development and implementation of AI ready data assessment
methodologies for organizations and public administration entities
- Implement data curation practices following FAIR principles (Findable,
Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable), with community metadata standards, and coordinate dataset availability for AI Factory users
- Provide support with data analysis, including AI/ML models and advanced
statistical models for AI readiness evaluations
- Develop research tools (e.g., computational workflows, software add-ons) to
facilitate AI readiness assessments
- Work closely with BSC department and Operations
department to bridge technical and research functions within the AI Factory
initiative
- Document methodologies, processes, and best practices while contributing to
training materials and knowledge sharing within the AI Factory

**Requirements**:

- Education
- MSc in Data Science, AI or similar
- Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
- 2 to 4 years of experience curating, managing and/or analyzing large datasets for research purposes
- Hands-on experience with python, and R(at least one of them)
- Experience with data analysis, such as using Python ML libraries or R statistical libraries
- Experience with data processing, data cleaning or preparing data for analysis
- Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
- Experience with DDI metadata schema, data architecture, and data governance
- Good fluency in both spoken and written English
- Experience using HPC
- Competences
- Competency in Python or R
- Good communication skills for effective collaboration
- Ability to work both independently and within a team
- Hard-working and highly organized

**Conditions**
- The position will be located at BSC within the Earth Sciences Department
