**Role Purpose**:
We are looking for a Teaching Assistant in British Council Barcelona to support senior teachers and class teachers in delivering high-quality teaching and learning, while also helping ensure the care and well-being of children at the British Council.

**Role Accountabilities**:
The Teaching Assistant supports teachers in creating a safe, clean, and engaging environment for young learners. This includes setting up and clearing classrooms, promoting positive behaviour, and ensuring the well-being and safety of children at all times—including during breaks and transitions. In the classroom, the assistant helps with planned activities, supports student learning, and uses appropriate English to encourage communication. They may assist with intimate care if needed. The Teaching Assistant will be expected to use English with children and staff.

The role also involves welcoming students, relaying important information, and supporting substitute teachers when necessary. Administrative support may be required occasionally.

For off-site teaching, the assistant helps manage student drop-off and pick-up and may support multiple groups of children as needed.

This position works closely with children, class and senior teachers, parents or guardians, customer services assistants, and teaching centre management to ensure smooth operations and a positive experience for all.

**Qualifications and Experience**:
**Essentials**:

- Learning Technologies
- Practical experience or training in an educational setting
- Certificate of B1 level in English
- Certificate of successful completion of compulsory secondary education.

**Desirables**:

- Basic understanding of Early Years Foundation Stage or National Curriculum (KS1)
- English as a Foreign Language or English as a Second Language teaching experience
- 1 years’ classroom experience working with children aged 2-6 years.
- Spanish B2 minimum

**Important information**:

- Contract type: Indefinite
- Role: Part-time role
- Salary: Pay band 2
- Legal requirement: Applicants must be EU citizens or already have the right to work in Spain.
- The role may require working during lunchtimes, evenings, and occasional Saturdays
- Flexibility and willingness to support off-site activities or different age groups is essential
