Underwriting is about risk analysis and selection, trading, creativity and innovation. As an Underwriting Graduate you can expect to:
- Develop a full understanding of underwriting basics and principles, gaining underwriting authority in at least one of our key business lines.- Use your analytical and critical thinking skills, learning how to assess risks and make underwriting decisions.- Learn how to trade with our brokers and partners in both good and poor market conditions, as trading, sales and dealing with clients are key parts of the role.- Make a tangible difference from the start as you interact with a range of experienced colleagues and senior managers- Receive on-the-job training as well as a structured learning programme ranging from technical knowledge to interpersonal skills- Be part of an international graduate cohort, gaining a global network of peers across the business.- Receive support and guidance from our Early Careers Team, your Graduate Buddy, Senior Sponsor who sits on the European Management Team, and benefit from regular access to the CEO of Hiscox Europe.

Your Secondments Explained:
In addition to your core role, you’ll take on two secondments in different European locations - each secondment is three months long and we anticipate that one will be in our Lisbon office. Secondments enable you to develop a broader set of skills by experiencing a different role, as well as developing your understanding of our wider business by experiencing work in a different European location.

In addition to these secondments, you’ll also spend a few days in our Luxembourg office learning about the regulatory environment we operate in, and you may also have an opportunity to be involved in a European-wide project, such as developing a new product offering.

We want to invest in your long-term future at Hiscox, from the start. You will join on a permanent contract and at the end of the programme (December 2026), you will move into a role within the Underwriting function or one of our business units to continue your Underwriting career with us.- University degree (predicted or obtained), ideally in Business, Administration, Insurance or Law disciplines (although we are open to different degree backgrounds;- Fluent in Spanish and English (written and spoken)- Permission to work in the Spain
