Role purpose:

- To drive, in close collaboration with Group Commercial, Vodafone Business, other Technology Functions and OpCos, global development and delivery of advanced Services though Network, Architecture and Solution Design supporting Vodafone’s existing and future network capabilities (Edge Compute, 5G, Network Slicing, MPN, IoT, Cloud, Network APIs etc).
- To drive industry, public cloud partners, vendors and OpCos to ensure we deliver Edge and Networking Architecture and Solution aiming to enhance customer experience, improve cost efficiencies and allow new revenue streams.
- To engage with the markets for PoCs, trials and deployment.
- To create technology platforms supporting the move of Vodafone from a Telecoms Company to a Technology Communications Company.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

- End-to-end Architecture and solution development for Edge Compute in Network Architecture - driven by on Vodafone Technology Strategy.
- Secure Vodafone ideas through IPRs and monetise Vodafone capabilities through APIs and new Platform Development.
- Leverage strategic relationships, industry partnerships and Innovation Centres to ensure we maximise know how and drive industry consensus for MEC introduction.
- Interface and Single Point of entrance for Hyperscalers and other companies.

Core competencies, knowledge and experience:
Minimum 7 years of technology experience in telecommunications networks or major internet service / content providers
Minimum 3 years’ experience in MEC related networks, products, platforms, and technologies
Hand-on knowledge of Azure, AWS or GCP is an asset
Track record in creating and driving technology platform definition / evolution / revolution through business cases to commercial products, both through in-house as well as external suppliers and partners
Good understanding of mobile and fixed access technologies, core networks, transport and service enablers required to deliver end to end solution.

Must have technical / professional qualifications:
University educated (Engineering / Computer Science). Additional Technology or Business Degree is an asset

Knowledge in Mobile Networks in areas such as 2G/3G/4G/5G/NB-IoT/Cat-M/WiFi access technologies, core networks, transport, service enablers, in traditional as well as in the context of NFV / CaaS.

Previous exposure to Public Cloud service providers (Azure, AWS, GCP) is an asset

Software development background is an asset

Experience on RFI/RFP management and evaluation is an asset

Budget owned: specific CAPEX and / or OPEX budget allocated to projects

Manage project operational spend where applicable
