**Competitive National Grants Unit**

Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) is a public sector institution, located in Barcelona (Spain) that
promotes and develops innovative biomedical research at the University Hospital Vall d'Hebron. VHIR is
oriented towards finding solutions to the health problems of the citizens and has the will to contribute to the
scientific, educational, social and economic development within its area of competence.

The National Projects Unit will support the scientific community at Vall d’Hebron throughout the full lifecycle of
national competitive projects. The Unit encourages and supports researchers in the pursuit of national
competitive funding for research, detecting opportunities and contributing to the development of quality
proposals.

We are currently looking for one person to join the team as a national post-award project manager.

**Required**:

- University degree related with job description duties
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in Catalan and Spanish

**Desired**:

- Additional training in competitive research projects

**Experience and knowledge**:
**Required**:

- Minimum +2 years of work experience in post-award management of basic and clinical research grants funded

by national organisations (ISCIII, MINECO, PERIS, LMTV3 )
- Experience in financial management
- Personal skills:

- Self-motivated
- Well-organised
- Meticulous, close attention to detail
- Proactive and results-oriented
- Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Excellent teamwork and relational skills

**Desired**:

- Experience in research institutions and/or project management in the biomedical sector will be valued

**Main responsibilities and duties**:

- Management of grant budgets, preparing financial reports and audits
- Monitoring project work plan, scientific reports and implementation of grant agreements
- Anticipating possible deviations during project implementation, planning risk contingency actions if necessary
- Ensuring compliance with institutional policies and sponsoring agency regulations and policies
- Serving as liaison between researchers and funding agencies
