Research Technician for The Respire Project

The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level. Research is organized in five programs: Climate, Air Pollution, Nature and Urban Health; Environment and Health over the Lifecourse; Global Viral and Bacterial Infections; Malaria and Neglected Parasitic Diseases and Maternal Child and Reproductive Health. **WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR**:
ISGlobal is seeking a research technician who is interested in taking over and managing activities of the project RESPIRE (Inhaled dose of air pollution - an integrative approach towards personalized air pollution exposure assessment in pregnant women (RESPIRE), an international project being conducted in Barcelona, Basel (Switzerland), and Edmonton (Canada). The overall project goal is the development and field-validation of pregnancy-specific algorithms to predict minute ventilation (and, consequently, the inhaled dose of air pollutants), and to evaluate the acute and chronic effects of the inhaled dose of pollutants on respiratory, cardiovascular and pregnancy outcomes in pregnant people. We are a small team of researchers and technicians within the Environment and Health Over the Lifecourse (EVOLVE) Programme looking to incorporate a new member.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Manage ethics documentation
- Preparation of fieldwork protocols and other documentation
- Collect samples and questionnaires

**SPECIFIC DUTIES**:

- Contact participants to obtain information, send questionnaires, arrange a fieldwork visit.
- Manage/control the workflow of the samples collected (e.g. shipment to the labs, etc).
- Data digitization and registry.
- Other support tasks related to fieldwork.

**TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Hold a university degree related to environmental, biological, chemical or health sciences.
- Research and clinical experience will be an asset.

**LANGUAGE LEVEL**:

- Fluent level of English. Intermediate level of Spanish or Catalan.

**CONDITIONS**:

- Duration: 6 months
- Starting date: 15/05/2025
- Contract Type: Part time (75%)
- Salary: According to internal salary scale

The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.

If needed any technical test could be passed. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.
