Corporate Development and Investor Relations Associate

The global sports tech market was valued at approximately 21.17 billion dollars in 2024 and is expected to grow to nearly 38.87 billion dollars by 2028. To capture this growth, Ascend is expanding its corporate development and investor relations capabilities.

**Placement within the Organisation**

This role sits within Ascend’s corporate development and investor relations function. The employment contract will be with one of Ascend’s portfolio companies and based in its Madrid office, offering a dynamic operational base within the portfolio.

**About the Role**

This position is ideal for someone at the start of their career who wants real responsibility, exposure to senior decision makers and the chance to work in a fast-moving international environment. You will operate at the intersection of strategy, finance and technology, contributing to the evaluation and development of high growth sports tech companies.

The role spans both Corporate Development and Investor Relations, giving you a broad foundation in strategic analysis, M&A and stakeholder communication.

**Corporate Development Responsibilities**
- Conduct market research across the sports tech landscape and identify key trends.
- Support financial analysis and due diligence for potential investments.
- Assist in evaluating mergers, acquisitions and strategic partnerships.
- Build and maintain financial models for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the coordination and monitoring of ongoing strategic projects.

**Investor Relations Responsibilities**
- Assist in preparing quarterly earnings materials and investor presentations.
- Maintain investor databases and support the preparation of shareholder communications.
- Monitor market activity, competitor activity and investor sentiment.
- Help respond to investor enquiries and support relationship building with stakeholders.
- Contribute to due diligence processes and discuss financial models with potential investors.

**What We Are Looking For**
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics or a related field.
- Some experience in corporate development, investment banking, consulting or a related area.
- Strong analytical skills and confidence with financial modelling.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Knoledege of Power BI and general financial tools.
- Strong organisational abilities and comfort working across several tasks.
- Interest in sport, innovation and technology.

**Languages**

A very high command of English is essential. Knowledge of German or Spanish is an advantage.

**Location**

On site in Madrid at the office of one of Ascend’s portfolio companies.
