En remoto, España Stuart A tiempo completo

Our Mission

We are an impact-driven company that aims to build the future of logistics for a more sustainable world: shared, efficient and reliable. We are committed to creating a new standard for urban deliveries that meet today’s environmental and social challenges while offering a premium delivery experience blending speed, flexibility and convenience.

Stuart is a highly diverse and inclusive company of 700+ employees with 90+ nationalities working across France, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain and the U.K.

It’s the right moment and the right place for us to make an impact on millions of people, as home delivery services hit a record high. And guess what? You can help us fulfil our vision

**Let’s talk about Software Engineering**

Stuart Engineering team is working on evolving its architecture to its next generation to keep up with the growth in the organisation. Our current architecture is a mix of a Ruby on Rails monolith and set of event-driven (Kafka backend) services (Scala, Python, Elixir) that supports our package routing, courier assignment, geocoding infrastructure as well as our data pipelines and ML algorithms.

As our team grows, we now see the need to decompose our monolith into smaller services based on DDD (Domain-driven design) principles.

We are looking for an experienced Staff/Principal Engineer who will join the team of other Senior/Staff Engineers and lead our effort into the next evolution of our architecture. This role will directly report to the VP of Engineering.

**What will I be doing?**:

- Working with the senior engineering teams to define best practices for service-oriented architectures and event-driven eventually consistent systems
- Helping, mentoring, coaching teams to extract services from the monolith or build new services that are secure, scalable, reliable and meet SLAs internally and externally
- Taking on hard challenges as an individual contributor, and leading a small team to design, build and maintain solutions for them
- Debugging complex production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack. Mentoring your fellow engineers on debugging, instrumenting, setting up alerts and dashboards
- Working with our developer experience and infrastructure teams to help build the tooling for deploying services to production and improve observability
- Being an active member of our technical governance team at Stuart and help make technical decisions in a timely manner and improve engineering standards and processes.

**What do we need from you?**:

- You have significant experience being in a technical leadership or staff/principal engineer role driving technical work for a large group of engineers and multiple engineering teams.
You have a broad exposure to different languages and frameworks to understand patterns and best practices among those. We care about your general engineering skills rather than asking for specific language/framework skills.
- You have an expert grasp of what it takes to build distributed systems with high scalability and availability requirements.
- You hold yourself and others to a high bar of engineering excellence.
- You have the humility to know that there is always more to learn from everyone you work with.
- You take pride in finishing projects to successful completion, with a sustainable approach to your own and others well being.
- You enjoy working with a diverse group of people from all different backgrounds and ways of life.

We expect that you may be strong and an expert in some areas and a beginner in others. What matters the most is your attitude and thirst for learning and growing.

**The stuff you wanna know**:

- Family-friendly work-life balance - **work from home and flexible hours**
- Option to **work remotely** anywhere in Spain
- Ticket Restaurant by **Edenred** (€11 daily)
- Unlimited access to **Udemy** for all your learning and development needs
- **
Stuart Academy** with regular workshops, Stu-Classes, and Stu-Talks
- Stuart is putting Mental Health Awareness first **Wellness Allowance** (€40 monthly) to use in any gym or sport class
- **
Private healthcare** provided by Sanitas ‍ ️
- Work in an international, dynamic and passionate environment with a company culture focused on learning and development

At Stuart, we believe that employees today want to evolve in collaborative, high-growth environments where they can demonstrate their abilities and thrive both professionally and personally. We are convinced that employees need to find alignment between the
