Service Lead Design Engineer

**Job Description Summary**:
Within GE Renewable Energy Business, the Hydro market is expected to grow in the coming years especially in the medium/small service and digital markets. Hydro has today a global industrial footprint in EMEA, China, India, North and Latin America and we are looking to reinforce the Generator auxiliary system capability of our Service Engineering team in Bilbao.

You will assume responsibility for the different generator auxiliary systems and apparatus, from basic design to final acceptance. You will make sure the design meets Customer’s requirements at the expected level of quality, and it is delivered on time and within budget. The focus will be on refurbishment and service projects in the EMEA region.

**Essential Responsibilities**
- Basic and detail design of generator auxiliaries’ components and systems (e.g. cooling system, instrumentation, high pressure oil injection, braking system, vibration monitoring, fire detection and protection, etc.)
- Deliver work packages aligned with technical guidelines, design practices and feedback of experience. Participate in design review meetings
- Prepare design calculations, technical specifications, drawings, and bill of materials
- Work closely with Sourcing and Commissioning to determine best fit to existing industrial and site constraints
- Monitor progress, quality, and budget’s targets throughout the lifetime of the project
- Stay current with industry development
- Active participation in short and long-term function and business goals
- Collaborate with other engineering center of excellence, as well as other functions worldwide
- Provide technical leadership for team members in the form of training, mentoring and work verification
**Qualifications/Requirements**
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience with generator auxiliary systems
- Experience with electrical components and systems
- Know-how of power plant’s layout
- Experience with 2D/3D CAD tools, particularly AutoCAD and NX12
- Focus on continuous improvement and simplification
- Ability to work and coordinate several design projects simultaneously
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and in a matrix organization
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Autonomous, flexible, proactive and with a sense of urgency
- Team player
- Fluent in English and Spanish
