The group actively engages with society, decision-makers, and businesses to co-produce and exchange knowledge and develop user-oriented services. The work includes research on the impact of weather, atmospheric chemistry and climate upon socio-economic sectors such as renewable energy, agriculture, water management, forest fires and urban development. The aim of the ESS is to enhance knowledge co-creation and improve resilience by accelerating adaptation to a rapidly changing environment. The position holder will work in a transdisciplinary setting, collaborating with interdisciplinary scientific teams, as well as with the stakeholder community, to produce more inclusive and comprehensive climate knowledge. **Key Duties**- Calibration, downscaling and verification of climate predictions following stakeholders' requirements. - Value assessment - Team work: Interaction with scientists in the group and the department to favor synergies- - **Requirements**- Education - Conducting a Degree/Master in Physics, Environmental Sciences, Mathematics (or equivalent) - Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience - Bachelor student in engineering, physics, mathematics or related field - Experience with climatic statistical analyses - Advanced skills in scientific programming in a suitable language (e.g. R, Python, Matlab) and familiarity with working in a UNIX environment - Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English - Ability and willingness to work in a professional environment within a multidisciplinary and international team - Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience - Previous experience working with climate data - Assessment of extreme events - Competences - Problem-solving, pro-active, result-oriented work attitude - Capability to work in an international and fast-paced work - Good communication skills **Conditions**The position will be located at BSC within the Earth Sciences Department - Duration: 5 months- Starting date: 01/02/2026**Applications procedure and process**A full CV in English including contact details - A cover/motivation letter with a statement of interest in English, clearly specifying for which specific area and topics the applicant wishes to be considered.
