Sustainability is positioned in the center of Arcadis' strategy. Therefore, it is no surprise that our sustainability services are experiencing strong growth Product sustainability, CO2 and water footprints, Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) projects, ESG assessments, circular business models, industrial symbiosis... there are many interesting challenges for our international clients with sustainability ambitions.
To further develop and run these projects, we are looking for a passionate consultant, eager to do the work: a lifecycle assessment practitioner, with a broader perspective on product portfolio sustainability assessment.

**Your tasks**
As a consultant, you are supporting in a set of projects:
- Support clients in data management for product sustainability assessment purposes.
- Conduct product LCA’s for existing products or products under development, with our tools (SimaPro, Ecochain), including scope definition, data gathering, data analysis and reporting. You are expected to work autonomously on the lifecycle inventory (selecting appropriate secondary data or proxies).
- Develop Product Environmental Footprinting strategy with companies or sector associations, including defining KPI’s & milestones, stakeholders’ engagement.
- Perform regulatory tracking related to sustainability topics and evaluate the business impact of changing regulatory requirements.
- Support the implementation of product portfolio sustainability assessment for clients, using SSbD approach. Identify and assess more sustainable alternatives.
- Act as project manager / support the project manager: responsible for the quality of your work and that of the project team, be sensitive to agreed timelines and budget. You communicate clearly and proactively with internal and external stakeholders involved.
Depending on your interests and the needs of our clients, other sustainability topics may also arise.
You stay on top of trends and developments in the sustainability sector to contribute to the innovation of our services. You support the development of our services.
You will be guided by senior consultants with experience in different topics and supported by other (junior) consultants.
**Your background**
- Master's degree with an analytical approach (Bio-engineer, chemist, chemical engineer, economics,...). An additional master in Sustainability or environmental sciences is an important asset.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience, in academia, industry (chemical, pharmaceutical, or manufacturing industry) or consultancy is expected.
- Experience with LCA software tools (SimaPro, Gabi, Ecochain, OpenLCA or MakerSite) and good practical knowledge of standards for LCA and Product Carbon Footprint (ISO standards, GHG Protocol) is an absolute must. Experience with different LCA / PCF automation tools is a plus.
- Knowledge of chemical synthesis pathways is a plus.
- Experience with Safe and Sustainable by Design framework is a plus.
- You are passionate about the topic, you are able to handle complexity, you have a flexible mindset, you value collaboration, and you have excellent communication skills in English and one other language.
