**Hamelin International School** is a private institution started in 1989 that is wholly dedicated to infant, primary and secondary education. The school is approved by the MEC (Ministry of Education and Culture of Spain) and authorized by the International Baccalaureate to teach the IB Diploma Programme.

We are looking for a full time **FACILITY MANAGEMENT AND HEALTH & SAFETY** to join our team. To ensure that the school buildings, facilities, resources and health&safety are well maintained.

**Team Responsibilities**
- Maintenance requests
- Search for budgets - maintenance, cleaning stuff, works, IT, suppliers, etc - ensuring the most favourable prices.

**Buildings and Facilities**
- Basic premises management and maintenance, including rotas and schedules for maintenance staff and gardener.
- Preparation of tender for the selection of the most favourable suppliers
- Procurement of locally based resources and workers
- Liaison for catering provision services
- Responsible for transport arrangements for the school
- Effective communication with outside agencies to maintain building equipment
- Manage the preparation of building plans, specifications, obtain planning permissions and discuss new building specifications with the Executive Director and outside agents.
- Communication with legal authority.
- Filling in forms and updating documentation for CAPEX and execution of works.
- Execution and transfer of information to the various platforms for internal audits and quality control of maintenance and surveillance, kitchen, cleaning, facilities, occupational risk prevention, residence, laundry, etc.
- Administrative support and coordination of kitchen management.
- Administrative and co-ordination management for the opening and implementation of the boarding school and the Old Campus.

**Health and Safety**

The H&S Coordinator is responsible for co-ordinating many health and safety activities and for acting as the primary source of health and safety advice within the Company/School. These responsibilities specifically include:

- Co-ordinating the Company’s/Schools risk assessment programme;
- Administering the accident investigation and reporting procedure;
- Liaising with the local health and safety enforcement authority, the Company’s/Schools insurers and other external bodies;
- Submitting any statutory notification reports as required by local legislation;
- Co-ordinating the health and safety inspection programme;
- Identifying health and safety training needs;
- Providing or sourcing health and safety training;
- Providing health and safety induction training to new employees;
- Identifying the implications of changes in local legislation or guidance;
- Preparing and submitting progress reports on an annual health and safety action programme;
- Sourcing additional specialist health and safety assistance when necessary;
- Displaying a copy of the Company’s Health and Safety Policy Statement, Health and Safety Responsibility Chart, and Fire and Accident Reporting Procedure;
- Ensuring their building has adequate fire marshals and first aiders at all times;
- Completing the Induction Checklist for new starters and long-term temporary employees/Teaching staff;
- Keeping and maintaining the Health and Safety Guidance document and updating with any new procedures when given;
- Ensuring that any actions arising from the health and safety audits are addressed;
- Recording any hazardous substances and materials.

**Safety in the premises**

To be responsible for:

- Checking the heating and cooling system in accordance with regulation and tasks
- Checking the security system in accordance with regulation and tasks
- Checking the fire protection system in accordance with regulation and tasks
- Challenging unknown visitors or suspect persons in the school grounds and in the building
- Reporting potential health and safety risks and hazards within the grounds and buildings to line manager and ensuring that these issues are appropriately dealt with.
