Risk Operations Manager

PayRetailers is a payment gateway designed to handle mass online payments to the Latin American market.

The company combines local markets expertise with payment technology enabling global merchants to successfully expand their business into high growth, emerging markets while eliminating the many operational complexities of managing cross-border payments.

Reporting to the Head of Risk Management, the **Risk Operations Manager** will develop and oversee the business’ fraud detection, disputes and claims, and investigations functions. The position will provide input into the strategic and operational direction for fraud and risk related initiatives while motivating employees and enhancing the skills of the risk operations teams. This strong leadership role will oversee fraud and risk operations within a global 24-hour coverage program identifying and communicating fraud prevention opportunities across the organization.

**Job duties and Responsibilities**:

- Build and maintain strong fraud and transaction monitoring capabilities within the business.
- Develop within the Fraud and transaction monitoring teams an in-depth understanding of fraud processes and risk mitigation.
- Contribute to the development of a world-class and global anti-fraud strategy and implement anti-fraud solutions that minimize impact to PayRetailers merchants and consumers.
- Ensure that operational effectiveness and alignment to company policies and regulatory standards is maintained throughout the Risk Operations team.
- Deliver high quality information and intelligence on fraud events and trends to the Risk Analytics team.
- Build and continually enhance fraud metrics while providing ongoing management reporting on fraud related issues and events.
- Identify emerging financial crime trends and build prevention and detection capabilities to mitigate risks.
- Oversee and assist in the development and training of Risk Operations staff.
- Continually assess PayRetailers products while identifying risks and recommendations to effectively manage risk exposure.
- Identify root causes for payment disputes and lead the definition of internal risk mitigation processes.
- Build and mentor a cross-border team of Claims analysts, providing guidance on fraud prevention, chargeback representment, and payment-related questions.
- Produce reports and business recommendations, advocating for productimprovements and task prioritization in collaboration with Product, Complianceand Engineering teams.

**Experience and Qualifications**:

- 7 years of experience in fraud or AML related roles within the financial industry
- 5 years of management, team building, and team leadership experience
- Proven track record of motivating and managing staff within a shift working environment.
- Business related degree or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including the ability to implement change.
- Knowledge of the financial payments system (and related fraud control techniques).
- Working experience with transaction monitoring platforms, queue and case management.
- Demonstrated ability to independently prioritize and manage competing work assignments in a time sensitive environment.
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Ability to assess loss prevention against associated revenue costs
