As we expand our Renewables business internationally, we are seeking an experienced Senior Procurement & Commercial Manager to help us build our expertise. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in a similar role, and broad knowledge of the Southern European energy market to join our team and help us achieve our net zero ambitions.

**About the Role**

In this role, you will operate as a true partner to our Renewables business in Southern Europe, developing and implementing commercial and contracting strategies and participating in critical decisions that support business objectives to optimise project returns, whilst protecting the business from commercial risk. Over time we will be looking for you to build and expand the procurement & commercial function in Bilbao to support the renewables business with their exciting growth plans. You will be leading and motivating an inclusive team to deliver commercially successful projects, strategies and plans for our exciting project portfolio in Southern Europe.

You will take key responsibility for:

- Managing the **procurement** of essential works/services packages, procuring at lowest cost of ownership and in accordance with the principle of efficiency and best value. This includes covering all commercial, business and legal project risks in contracts to ensure ongoing value for money throughout the lifetime of the contract.
- Managing all pre and post contract **commercial **matters including preparation of cost estimates, value engineering, negotiating/agreeing contract change and ensuring that the core principles of Commercial Management are being implemented. Whilst fully understanding the commercial impact of all decisions and delivery projects within approved budget authorisations.
- Understanding the **financial** aspects and implications of operational requirements and complex capital projects.
- Understanding, managing and supporting **supplier** development techniques and nurturing complex supplier relationships.
- Complying with all **safety **policies and procedures, promoting safety and safe working practices both internally and externally to improve safety performance.

**What do I need?**

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have an excellent understanding of the Southern European energy market and relevant supply chains, with particular emphasis on Spain.

You will bring experience of developing and implementing complex commercial and procurement strategies, ideally within the renewables, energy or other relevant sector working on large scale, complex programmes.

We would also love you to have:

- Quantity Surveying Degree / Bachelor's in Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- Experience of drafting and interpreting commercial contracts and supporting strategic projects/contracts. This should include working knowledge of the relevant conditions of contract such as NEC, FIDIC etc.
- Experience of estimating, cost and budget management, and contract administration.
- Experience in forming and nurturing key supplier and stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to successfully recruit, manage and develop a multi discipline team in the commercial development and delivery of major projects.
