Health and Wellness Manager

Job Description:
Directly reporting to Valencia’s SADI Director, and in full coordination with the Senior Case Manager and the Behavioral Intervention team in Boston, the Valencia Health and Wellness Manager works in consultation and collaboration with internal and external partners to provide real-time wellness checks, crisis intervention, and follow-up care for students living on and off campus. Furthermore, the position requires coordination with various units in and outside of Student Affairs as well as external resources (e.g. social service agencies, insurance companies, health care providers).

This position will be responsible for:
- Conducting pre-assessments (triaging walk-in students) to refer - as appropriate - to third party community providers for further psychological or psychiatric evaluation, medications and/or longer-term treatment (the majority of these sessions will be crisis-oriented)- Acting as senior intake and support officer for students as part of the Equity leadership team in Valencia- Assisting in navigating barriers to success (i.e. liaise with accessibility, housing, and food insecurity resources)- Supporting all essential functions related to interventions with students of concern (i.e. participate in Behavioural Training team sessions)- Supporting students who need to spend / have spent time in an inpatient hospital setting- Creating and running psycho-educational programming and outreach services for students including training, outreach and wellness programing for the Valencia campus community on suicide prevention, gate-keeper training, mental health first aid, consent, sexual assault, drug and alcohol use, or similar programs and initiatives such as, but not limited to, Mental Health Awareness Week- Ensuring appropriate care and follow-up for students in need of additional resources, helping to coordinate a comprehensive plan of care with appropriate colleagues across multiple units of the College, both in Valencia as well as Boston- Providing support to Valencia SADI Director in coordinating with families and the campus community.- Serving as the head of the department when / if the director is unavailable.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide crisis intervention and walk-in services on a daily basis.- Maintain all pertinent clinical documentation and enter data into counseling medical records.- Engage appropriate parties in responses to health and wellness early alerts where necessary, including the Valencia SADI Director, contracted counseling services in Valencia or Boston, Berklee’s Medical Assistance team and the Behavioural Intervention team.- Under the direction of the Associate Dean, Health/Wellness in Boston, collaborate with members of the students-of-concern committee to triage and respond to community generated reports regarding students-of-concern (residential and commuter students), coordinate support and follow up plans as needed, and maintain relevant documentation for the Valencia students-of-concern CARES committee (Behavioural Intervention team)- Outreach to student concerns submitted as health and wellness early alerts.- Via walk-in and scheduled appointments, assist students returning from hospitalizations and coordinate with the Valencia SADI director to complete the return to campus protocol; develop and maintain relevant documentation for those cases.- Communicate with parents/family members, program directors, faculty, and other necessary partners to assist with coordinated plans and management of student concerns.- Initiate outreach and prevention programming in the community as it relates to broad topics such as consent, mental health and drug and alcohol usage in Spain- Collaborate with other College divisions/offices/constituents, particularly Academic Affairs, Housing, Community Standards and the Equity Leadership Team to assist with complex student issues.- Provide consultation to staff, faculty and students of the Berklee community as directed by Valencia’s SADI Director.- Maintain licensure requirements in “Trabajo Social” or “Psicología” in the corresponding Colegio Profesional, if applicable.- Attend and participate in all divisional and departmental meetings, and serve on appropriate college-wide committees as required or requested.- Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Crisis intervention and triage skills.- Familiarity with mental health online platforms.- Strong counseling assessment skills.- Ability to engage with multicultural and diverse student populations.- Strong consultation and presentation/training skills.- Maintenance of up to date and accurate student documentation.- Experience with handling sensitive, personal information- Ability to work with software and cloud-based platforms.
