**About the role**:
As a Data Engineer, you'll become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow, working on a mission critical project for one of our clients. The Engineering team consists of Software Engineering, Data Engineering, DevOps and Infrastructure Engineering across multiple locations.

The team structure is flat and close teamwork is pervasive. The Engineering team is responsible for developing and maintaining all in-house software for our client. It has very close interaction with all areas of the business comprising the Client Team, Investment Team and Operations Team. There is a strong demand from the business for innovation through software implementation and improvement of business processes. Team members manage requirements and interact with the business directly and are responsible for delivering against them in an agile way.

Our Client is a purpose-built pension investment manager with an advisory mindset who offers a dynamic and opportunistic approach to risk management, asset allocation, manager selection and implementation. The company now employs over 400 professionals who work for institutional investors with assets of c. $400bn.

**Technologies**:

- Experience working in SQL, Python.
- Understanding of CI/CD and relevant tools.

**Responsibilities**:

- Work with Big Data technologies
- Maintain legacy data infrastructure
- Work together with the business and communicate with them directly to make sure their needs are met
- Provide the business with clear and easy to understand data
- Data validation to make sure the quality matches the high standards
- Working in a team environment provide pragmatic data solutions to business users
- Contribute to the project technology stack using ideas and trends from the industry
- Review code, architecture and lead the team in providing the highest quality solutions

**Requirements**:
Desirable
- Hadoop/Hive/NiFi
- Experience in institutional banking or in the financial risk management industry.
