Job summary
**Overview**: Our team is seeking a Site Environmental Technician (SET) who will responsible for managing environmental compliance at Amazon Transportation Services (ATS) Facilities in the United Kingdom.
**Responsibilities**:
- The SET will assist in implementation and enforcement of standards and policies to support environmental and regulatory compliance and provide guidance for operations, maintenance and construction teams.
- The individual will complete environmental inspections and performance analysis, monitor metrics, undertake waste activities for the site and facilitate site implementation of Amazon environmental standards.
- This role will report to the Regional Environmental Engineer (REE) / Regional Environmental Manager (REM) for the United Kingdom for ATS. The SET will occasionally support three additional sites; the role will require frequent travels (typically 50% of the time).
- The SET will be responsible for site execution of environmental procedures and ensure compliance with all applicable specific country, state/province, region and local regulations.
- Manage and execute site responsibilities to comply with air emissions, surface water, wastewater, waste and other environmental related laws, regulations and permits.
- Manage and prepare site specific environmental reporting to regulators and within Amazon. -Manage and execute waste management activities, classification, reporting and permitting requirements.
- Execute waste, surface water site inspections.
- Monitor and provide guidance on site performance against applicable environmental regulations, programs and Amazon global standards.
- Support other ATS sites with environmental compliance.
- Ensure site leadership and employees are trained.
- Analyse environmental metrics and review weekly and monthly trends to determine where improvements are needed.
- Execute site specific tasks associated with the implementation of Environmental Programs.
- Support the REE /REM in Measuring and analysing sites’ performance against published requirements in environmental policies.
- For all deficiencies, identify a plan for the site to implement and fix all identified deficiencies.
- Execute relevant environmental procedures as dictated by business and regulatory needs.
- Execute site environmental action plan development for any deficiencies noted from trends, audits and inspections.
- Support the REE/REM in Evaluating and developing process improvements for identified risks.
- Support the REE /REM with Facilitating root cause analyses for all environmental incidents and recommend appropriate corrective actions for network implementation.
- Show initiative to identify and implement corrective actions to eliminate any observed non-compliance or potential non-compliance situations.
- Knowledge in adjacent legal areas (occupational and fire protection, energy law) - extensive experience as an environmental management officer (ISO14001 and / or EMAS) including safe handling of authorities and auditors
- Experience in warehouse operations and logistics is preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and the use of pivot tables and the development of charts and graphics
- Ability to manage multiple sites
