Development Engineer

**About the role**:
This position is responsible for the design and development of Class I and II medical devices. The Development Engineer will report into the Development Senior Engineer located in the US, working closely with team members across EMEA, and will act as a project leader and core team member on cross-functional (i.e., manufacturing, quality, regulatory, prototype, etc.)

**Principal Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Identifies all tasks required to complete project assignments according to Design Control and Quality Management System procedures.
- Remediation of active product lines to European Union Medical Device Regulation 2017/745 to allow continued business critical sales in the EU.
- Executes all product development tasks and provides oversight to cross-functional team members and suppliers to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Works with the cross-functional team to identify and document user needs/design inputs
- Prepares new product specifications or modifies existing specifications to satisfy unique clinical needs based on input from customers Develops innovative solutions to design challenges, established product requirements, customer needs and industry trends.
- Develops testing strategies to verify/validate user needs
- Completes design verification and validation activities, and develops corresponding test protocols and reports
- Designs for manufacturability, inspectability and optimum cost/efficiency. Lead times are often critical.
- Generates or updates design control and technical file documentation
- Manages the development of many projects at one time throughout all states of the development process. Must be able to prioritize work when needed.
- Participates in root cause analysis for problem solving
- Generates and/or manages the creation of prototype models to evaluate gaps in design concepts

**Expected Areas of Competence (i.e., knowledge, skills, and abilities)**
- Full working knowledge of product development in a medical device industry
- Ability to develop project schedule and assess cross functional team’s progress on assignments relative to this schedule
- Professional, concise, tactful and sensitive in communications. Accomplishes objectives when communicating with internal personnel, and external customers and vendors.
- Demonstrated good written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills
- Working knowledge of drafting standards and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- Assures quality requirements are met
- Ability to manage many projects at one time
- Microsoft Office Suite and, as well as a CAD software such as Solid Works or Autodesk Inventor

**Education/Experience Requirements**:

- Minimum B.S. degree in one of the following engineering disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering Technology, Bioengineering Technology, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, or Aeronautical Engineering.
- Minimum 2 years of Medical device experience.
- Good level of english both speaking and written
- Unigraphics / Inventor / 3D softwares
- Project management skills
