Mechanical Design Engineer

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, your primary role entails designing mechanical components and assemblies while closely collaborating with different departments. You'll actively engage in collaborative problem-solving with Mechanical Design Engineers and Composite Design Engineers. Your regular reporting will be to the Project Lead Engineer.

Taking projects from initial concepts to production: we are designing, developing, testing, and manufacturing the next generation of high-performance batteries to innovative projects for multiple industries. **What You Will Do**
- Creating and revising mechanical designs using CATIA/ 3DX to meet project requirements. This involves conceptualizing, 3D modelling, detailing, and creating fully dimensioned drawings
- Designing of suspension mechanical components according to the specification
- Designing of Jigs & Fixtures for testing brake ducts and suspension components
- 3D printed mock-up components for testing and validation of brake dyno setups
- Designing of supports for mechanical components in the engine bay
- Designing of new trackside equipment as sidepods and roll hoop inlet blanks, jacks and trolleys to support the team in circuit operations
- Managing and maintaining accurate design documentation, including drawings, specifications, BOMs, and engineering change requests, using drawing control systems (e.g., PDM/PLM)
- Evaluating and selecting appropriate materials based on mechanical properties, processing requirements, and cost considerations. This involves understanding the strengths and limitations of different materials and their impact on design outcomes
- Communication: Effectively communicating with internal teams, clients, and manufacturing
- Occasionally visiting customer sites or to support production processes, resolve design-related issues, and ensure successful implementation of designs

**What You Need To Succeed**
- Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent R&D design experience
- At least 2 years of experience working in a similar position
- Automotive and/or motorsport background
- Good knowledge and experience of Catia v5 / 3DX
- Previous experience in designing mechanical assemblies
- Knowledge of GD&T principles
- Being able to work under a limited supervision
- Proficient English

**Desirable Skills**
- FEA and/or CFD experience
