ALBA is the Spanish synchrotron light source, a large research infrastructure operating ten beamlines, complementary facilities, and an Electron Microscopy Center, this last in partnership with other institutions. Currently constructing multiple more beamlines, expanding the Electron Microscopy Center, and integrating advanced data analytics, it sums up a wide range of infrastructures geared toward finding solutions to societal challenges.

The synchrotron light produced by 3 GeV electrons is used by thousands of researchers to analyse and understand the properties and functionality of matter, spanning a wide variety of fields, such as catalytic research, health, energy production/storage, environmental research, communication technologies, or cultural heritage.

- Tasks

CELLS is looking for a technician to operate the magnetic measurements laboratory depending on the IDs and Magnets Group of ALBA, in the Accelerator Division.

The position is funded by ALBA01-NGEU project for the production of prototypes for the future fourth generation synchrotron light source that will be called ALBA II. In particular, WorkPackage number 1 of said project is dedicated to the design of the magnetic systems for the new main accelerator, including the characterization of the obtained prototypes at the magnetic measurements laboratory.

The main tasks of the position will be:

- Operation of instruments to perform magnetic measurements.
- Participation in the preparation of measurement protocols.
- Participation in the post-processing of acquired data and preparation of measurement reports.
- Participation in the characterization of the magnet prototypes developed within the framework of ALBA01-WP1.
- General maintenance tasks at the laboratory: keeping order, management of stocks and spare parts, etc.
- Requirements

Applications that do not present the aforementioned or required documentation during the selection procedure will not be accepted.
- Qualified as higher technical education cycle (CFGS), degree level or degree students with 85% of the credits fulfilled, in an appropriate branch of Physics or Engineering (electronics, telecommunications, mechanics or similar).
- English language equivalent to B1 level.

The selection will be carried out through the competition-opposition system.

As a first phase, an analysis of the curriculum will be carried out (assessment of previous experience and / or scientific history, degree, training and other professional information relevant to the position). Career breaks or variations in the chronological order of CVs will be regarded as an evolution of a career, and consequently, as a contribution to the professional development.

The assessment of the CV in the competition phase will be scored up to 40 points, which will consider the following aspects:

- The following training or experience, related to the tasks of the position, will be evaluated with the following points:

- Background in electromagnetism - up to 4 points.

 o Training or experience in electronics and instrumentation - up to 6 points.

 o Software programming training or experience - up to 6 points.

 o Familiarity with high precision mechanical systems - up to 4 points.
- Language skills up to 2 points:
o 2 points for at least having a high level of Spanish or Catalan.

Provided they meet the minimum requirements and have ranked among the top five after the assessment of the CV phase, at least one person from the underrepresented gender in the division/office will be interviewed.

The interview will include at least:

- Presentation of academia, professional experience and skills.
- Auto-assessment of soft skills.
- Motivation for the position
- Questions and Answers by the board
