**The Institute**

The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The CRG is composed by an interdisciplinary, motivated and creative scientific team which is supported both by a flexible and efficient administration and by high-end and innovative technologies.

In April 2021, the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) received the renewal of the 'HR Excellence in Research' Award from the European Commission. **The role**

The volume of operations at EGA in CRG is increasing as the team, the service and the user community are growing. Therefore a new position is required to coordinate the Helpdesk activities, the development of core services and the operations with our closer partners and relevant competitive projects.

The new team member will work closely with the EGA Team Leader and coordinate operations and the evolution of them, in close collaboration with the European Bioinformatics Institute, with the goal of ensuring a smooth and timely development of projects and activities.

Additionally, the Operations Manager will contribute to competitive projects in cases where the EGA Service is participating as service provider.

**About the team**

The European Genome-phenome Archive (EGA) is a service for secure archiving and sharing of all types of personally identifiable genetic and phenotypic data resulting from biomedical studies and healthcare centres. Jointly managed by the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) in Barcelona the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) in Cambridge (UK), the EGA provides an invaluable service to the worldwide biomedical research community. The two teams, even if geographically split, collaborate on daily basis.

The EGA team at the CRG is composed of nearly 20 members coming from all around the globe and with diverse professional expertise: we have helpdesk officers, system administrators, bioinformatics, IT architects, web developers and project managers. Altogether, we are involved in several international projects in numerous scientific fields, where we bring our expertise in human genomic data management. Furthermore, our team continuously work to improve and to deploy new services, with the goal of adding value to the huge assets that EGA is responsible of.

**Whom would we like to hire?**

**Must Have**
- **Experience**:

- You have at least 2 years of experience with project management and/or research coordination
- You have experience in working in scientific international environments
- You have experience in human sensitive data management
- **Education and Training**: You hold a PhD in biomedical sciences or bioinformatics
- **Languages**: You have an excellent level of English, given this is the daily used language for communication, with the team and international partners alike
- **Technical skills**:

- You have advanced MS Office & Google Docs skills, in particular presentation and documents
- **Competences**:

- Personal and Team organizational skills
- Leadership capacity & excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to efficiently interact with people with different professional backgrounds
- Ability to solve problems independently
- Proactivity

**Nice to have**
- Languages: Spanish and Catalan, as some of our local projects require interaction with non-English speakers
- Attention to details
- End user service orientation
- Knowledge of operations, including legal technical and security aspects (as well as associated standards), of large, controlled access databases
- Experience in projects led by key organisations in the field, namely the Global Alliance in Health and Genomics (GA4GH) and ELIXIR Europe
**The Offer - Working Conditions**
