For our IT EMEA Hub for Pharma in Barcelona we are hiring a Data Architect to strengthen the global Digital Transformation & IT - Pharma organization.

**You will be responsible for**:

- Lead and participate in design sessions with Enterprise and Hub Cloud/IT Engineering teams, Data Scientists, Product Managers, business and IT stakeholders, that result in design documentation for data processing, storage and delivery solutions.
- Understand business needs and processes.
- Design, development and maintenance of robust data architecture concepts for our systems and digital use cases (Manufacturing Execution Systems, Process Control Systems, Enterprise Resource Planning).
- Evaluate new technologies or new concepts, like Data Mesh, including performing POCs and presenting results to others, with a goal of providing technical recommendations
- Challenge the team to improve processes and methodologies.
- Implement data solutions according to design documentation using a variety of tools and programming languages, like Kafka, SQL and non-SQL databases, Python etc.
- Provide reliable estimates for short term projects and assist in large scale project estimation.
- Collaborate with data engineers and stewards within the team and across data, technical platforms and product teams.
- Represent the team at various cross team meetings.
- Create and maintain design and code documentation in GitLab/GitHub, Confluence or Azure DevOps, SharePoint.

**Who you are**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience or Master's degree with 3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in dealing with structured and unstructured data from various sources as well as in the development of concepts for data storage, data lineage, data catalogues.
- Experience with data ontologies and data taxonomies.
- Experience with SQL, cloud platforms and knowledge of decentralized systems and agile software development.
- Interest in new methods and technologies as well as enthusiasm for data architecture challenges.
- Ideally experienced in Pharmaceutical Product Supply.
- Experience with data architecture and modeling, including designing physical models for datasets.
- Proficiency in working with relational databases such as Postgres, MySQL, Oracle, etc.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in English.

**Nice to have**:

- Working experience in Pharma, life sciences or a related discipline
- Platform-as-a-Service software such as Cloud Foundry or Kubernetes
- Stream processing, e.g., Kafka, Spark Streaming, Akka, etc.
- Knowledge of Machine Learning or other data science practices
