The Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC) is a comprehensive **cancer research center** dedicated to conduct research and drive innovation in the epidemiological, preventive, clinical, translational, and basic aspects of leukaemia and other hematologic malignancies, with the final aim of finding a cure for these diseases. It was created in 2010, and since then has experienced an exponential growth.

The IJC is also part of the network of Excellence Research Centers of Catalonia **(CERCA)** and was accredited as a **Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence** by the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities in 2024. Since 2018, the Institute has also been accredited by the Scientific Foundation of the Spanish Association Against Cancer **(FCAECC)** Additionally, IJC is one of the centers integrated into the Institut de Recerca Germans Trias i Pujol (IGTP) accreditation as Accredited Health Research Institute (IIS) by the Carlos III Health Institute **(ISCIII)**.

The IJC's main headquarters is located within the Can Ruti Biomedical Campus, alongside other leading biomedical institutions, providing direct access to cutting-edge scientific and technological facilities, as well as complementary community services. The IJC has **six locations integrated into reference hospitals**: Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol, Hospital Clínic, Hospital Sant Pau, Hospital Josep Trueta, Hospital del Mar and Hospital San Joan de Déu. This facilitates close collaboration between basic and clinical researchers, fostering translational research that integrates basic science with clinical practice in clinical settings.

The Josep Carreras Leukemia Research Institute Can Ruti is looking for a **Genomics Platform Technician**in the Genomics group led by **Dr. Raquel Pluvinet.**

**RESEARCH DESCRIPTION**

The Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC) is seeking a motivated Genomics Platform Technician. The Genomics Unit is a scientific and technological support unit for research projects in the fields of genomics and epigenomics. It assists researchers from experimental design through to data analysis and interpretation. The unit is equipped with state-of-the-art instruments for microarray-based genome-wide DNA methylation assessment, microarray-based genotyping, next-generation sequencing (NGS) targeted sequencing solutions, and pyrosequencing to analyse locus-specific DNA methylation status.

**MAIN RESPONSABILITIES**
- Provide technical support for internal and external projects within the Unit.
- Extract DNA from various sample types, including primary cells, cell lines, frozen tissues, and formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissues.
- Perform nucleic acid quantification and quality control assessments using fluorometric and electrophoretic methods.
- Operate the Illumina MiSeq system for next-generation sequencing protocols.
- Maintain audit trails of performed work and keep documentation, such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), up to date.
- Manage sample reception, registration, and tracking.
- Oversee laboratory stock and order management.
- Report to the Unit Manager.

**WHAT WE NEED**
- Degree in Genetics or a related field (e.g., Biology, Biomedical Sciences).
- Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques, including PCR, RT-qPCR, DNA/RNA purification, fluorometric quantification, agarose gel electrophoresis, and quality assessment using Agilent TapeStation.
- Experience using Illumina BeadArray technology for DNA methylation analysis and SNP genotyping.
- Experience preparing sequencing libraries for next-generation sequencing (NGS).
- Practical experience with pyrosequencing for the validation of NGS or array data.
- Working knowledge of genomic databases and bioinformatics tools.
- Strong organizational, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Responsible, proactive, and self-motivated attitude.
