The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress. **Context And Mission**
- The applicant will work on setting up an urgent computing case for earthquakes within the context of the DT-GEO project, towards next generation information systems for seismology.

**Key Duties**
- Gather the required geophysical information for the use-case
- Gather specific requirements from the end-users
- Adapt the existing technology for the specific case, by September 25

**Requirements**:

- Education
- PhD in natural sciences topics, related to earthquakes
- BSc in sciences (physics, geophysics, mathematics...)
- Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
- Some experience in seismology or geophysics.
- Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
- Required: programming skills in Python
- Desired: experience in running distributed computing simulations.
- Required: Excellent English, written and spoken
- Desired: Specific knowledge on Mexico seismicity and seismic hazard
- Competences
- Ability to work both independently and within a team
- Good communication and team-work skills to work in a multidisciplinary team.

**Conditions**
- The position will be located at BSC within the CASE Department
- We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, support to the relocation procedures
- Duration: Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration
- Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement
- Starting date: ASAP
