Postdoctoral Researcher – Energy Transition Mar Reguant is looking to hire a postdoctoral researcher to work with her at the Barcelona School of Economics on a project studying the energy transition. The goal of this project is to build tools to better understand the economic impacts of the rapid transformation of electricity markets, and to help better design electricity markets going forward. Project Overview The project will develop and implement novel statistical tools and structural models that contribute to our understanding of this rapid transformation, focusing on both supply‑side (firm strategic responses and investment) and demand‑side (consumer behavior, welfare and distributional impacts). The tools and models will help understand the impacts of the energy transition on both sides. Responsibilities Conduct independent research on the energy transition Develop and implement novel statistical tools and structural models Collaborate with other research projects and participate in group activities such as seminars, reading groups and workshops Work closely with Prof. Reguant and the BSE Energy Research Group Publish and present research findings Qualifications Strong commitment to research in Environmental Economics or Industrial Organization Strong research record with a focus on empirical methods Proficiency in programming languages (R, Stata, Julia, Python) Strong problem‑solving skills and a solution‑oriented mentality Collaborative, collegial and excited to work with diverse teams Highly self‑motivated and able to take initiative without much supervision Ability to learn additional programming languages Excellent proficiency in English Spanish work permit (recommended) Benefits Opportunity to join a vibrant Economics community in Barcelona and get involved with the academic life at the Barcelona School of Economics.
