Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) is a public sector institution, based in Barcelona (Spain) that promotes and

develops innovative biomedical research at the University Hospital Vall d'Hebron. VHIR is oriented towards finding

solutions to the health problems of the citizens and has the will to contribute to the scientific, educational, social and

economic development within its area of competence.

We are actively seeking a Finance Area director to lead VHIR’s Financial Area.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Education and qualifications**:
**Required**:

- Degree in Social Science area (Business Administration and Management, Economics, International Relations,

Sustainable Business and Innovation)
- Master degree or higher formation in Accounting Management, Finance, Audit, Economic Development and

Innovation
- Postgraduate Studies in Leadership will be a plus

**Experience and knowledge**:
**Required**:

- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing accounting departments within public administration bodies,

preferably within health/research sector.
- Prior knowledge of the public sector, preferably as a Chief Financial Officer / Finance Director in a research

centre.

- Ability to work with deadlines and used to prioritize.
- Focused on results orientation, analytical skills and vocation of service.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in Catalan, Spanish and English.
- Proficiency in office software.

**Main responsibilities and duties**:
Reporting to the Managing Director:

- Lead, coordinate and supervise the economic Area including the units of which he/she will be in charge:
Accounting, Controlling, Purchasing/Tenders.
- Prepare the annual budget of the Institution and its monthly monitoring.
- Manage, control and supervise the accounting and financial statements preparation.
- Ensure the proper function of workflows and administrative, accounting and financial procedures of the Institute,

reporting regularly to all agencies that require it.
- Collaborate in the digital transformation with regards to those financial areas involved.

**Labour conditions**:

- Full-time position: 40h/week.
- Starting date: As soon as possible
- Gross annual salary: Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our

Collective Agreement pay scale
