**Role purpose**:
We are seeking a dedicated professional Part-time Teacher to champion high-quality teaching and foster effective learning of English. This role plays a vital part in supporting the broader objectives of the British Council, contributing to its cultural relations mission and strengthening global connections through language education. **Role Accountabilities**:
This role supports the British Council’s global English strategy by delivering high-quality teaching and engaging in ongoing professional development. Teachers plan and deliver tailored lessons, monitor progress, provide feedback, and build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. They also handle administrative tasks and support centre activities and marketing efforts.

Active participation in performance management and commitment to safeguarding, including child protection and inclusion, are essential—especially when working with young learners. Teachers also help students connect with UK culture and values.

**Qualifications & Experience**:
**Essentials**
- University degree.
- Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) or Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) certification from Trinity College of London.
- Proficiency in English equivalent to a Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) C2 level.
- 1-year post-certificate i.e. CELTA or Trinity cert TESOL experience. N.B We would consider applicants with less than 1 year post CELTA experience depending on interest in further training in YL teaching and overall potential
- Experience in teaching relevant age groups specific to the centre
- Primary aged 6 to 10 (Essential)
- Lower Secondary aged 11 to 14 (Essential)
- Upper Secondary aged 15 to 17 (Essential)

**Desirables**
- Extension qualifications: Current recognised extension qualifications are: NILE Teaching English in Pre-Primary Education TYLEC - Trinity Young Learners Extension Certificate
- Recognised diploma in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) i.e. Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (DELTA).
- Experience in teaching relevant age groups specific to the centre:

- Early Years aged 2 to 5 (Desirable)
- Adults General English 18+ (Desirable)

**Important information**:

- **Contract type**:Indefinite
- **Salary details**:8,390.76 euros to 13,983.84 euros annual gross depending on total number of teaching hours and qualifications.
- **Working location**:Barcelona; however, Teachers may be expected to work in more than one location, e.g. British Council centre and a partner institution. Increasingly our young learner teaching takes place in schools, so travel is often required. Corporate classes usually take place online or off our premises.
- **Teaching hour**:Approximately 12 teaching hours a week. Mainly Young Learners with some Adults classes possible. Most Young Learners teaching takes place on weekday evenings (from 17.30-19h), some lunchtimes from 13 to 15h and early afternoons (from 15-17h) evenings from 19.00 -20.30 (Secondary and adults) and on Saturdays (Primary or Adults only). There are some Adults classes in the mornings.
- **Right to work**: Applicants must be EU nationals or have the natural right to work in Spain as visa sponsorship is not provided
