**Introduction**
You don’t know this yet but looking for jobs is a daunting endeavor. To make this process easier, we created the Mitiga Excellence Program, which allows students or recent graduates from undergraduate, graduate and/or PhD studies to take a deep dive into the fast-paced world of a tech startup: Mitiga Solutions.
The Mitiga Excellence Program is not a regular internship program. Our goal is twofold. To help you grow not only in your technical area, but also support you develop as a well-rounded professional. Because we invest a lot of our time to make you grow and be your best self, we only take a handful of fellows each year, making the Mitiga Excellence Program highly competitive.
**Who we are**
Mitiga is a spinoff of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, which hosts MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe.
At Mitiga, we want to make the world more resilient against natural hazards. And we're on a mission to create the most reliable technology solutions to manage climate-induced risks with science, AI, and high-performing computing, helping prevent hazards from becoming disasters.
We look at climate adaptation and resilience actions through a comprehensive view of the risk cycle. Not only are our disruptive risk models adaptable for climate change trends, but they are also suitable for structuring and scaling parametric risk transfer products. We bring the rigor from science into commercial products that can create direct impact on greater resilience and climate adaptation through improved coverage.
**Who you are**
Well, you’re excellent. A proactive individual who’s looking to learn and mature your super skills and gain experience in a challenging work environment. You’re not afraid of a challenge. In fact, you thrive on it. You’re a natural problem-solver, a chaser and creative thinker who combines big picture thinking with relentless execution.
You want to hone your technical skills in things that matter (instead of shelving those bright ideas into yet another dusty research paper). You’re interested in the intersection of science/technology and business. You may still be discovering who you are (aren’t we all?) and are looking for an experience that allows you to be exposed to a variety of topics, while maturing your superpower skills or discovering new grounds.

**What you get**
The Mitiga Excellence Program is all about making you grow as an awesome professional and human being. We want to develop the next generation of experts and leaders in their fields. To make this happen, we have adopted a two-pronged approach:

Pairing and diversifying. **We will pair you with the best expert in the field that you’re working in. This means great attention to your technical development through a hands-on learning-by-doing approach. You’ll gain skills and knowledge that will make you stand out from your peers. At the same time, we know that you’re still on a learning curve, so 20% of your time will also be spent on a different (but complementary) area that you’re used to. We do this to make you exposed to different possibilities that may strike bright ideas. But also, because we believe in well-rounded professionals
- **
Feedback and coaching. **You’ll also receive regular and structured feedback and coaching sessions with our leadership. This is a great opportunity to develop self-awareness and critical competencies for the workplace (and for life) like improved communication, working with others, leadership skills or simply how to properly run meetings.
The support you will received has a cost-company of €30,000 a year in terms of dedicated senior staff to help your professional growth. In addition, we’ll make available up to 2 grants (in the form of a stipend) to extremely qualified fellows.
Of course, depending on your performance and the company’s priorities, the Mitiga Excellent Program can pave the way for future employment opportunities.
**Your impact**
If you get accepted to the Mitiga Excellence Program, we’ll jointly develop a work plan for you based on your current abilities, future career interests and your flexibility. You’ll be appointed an awesome human being to supervise you and guide you along the way based on your main area of interest. This work plan will be based on key milestones to help you stay on track and allow us to assess your performance and provide your feedback to help you identify blind spots and grow as a professional.
