**Role Overview**:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Engineering to lead our Engineering organization towards excellence. As the Head of Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the effectiveness of our system development life-cycle processes, ensuring alignment with both business and Engineering strategies. Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering, you will have direct oversight of Engineering Managers, driving initiatives and standards across the team.

**What you’ll be doing**:

- ** Growth Management**:
Mentor and develop engineering managers, identifying opportunities for career growth and ensuring alignment with their professional goals.

Support engineering managers in guiding their teams toward achieving their desired growth paths, whether managerial or technical.

Delegate responsibilities and provide stretch assignments to align long-term development plans with individual goals and capabilities.

Proactively detect and address health and wellness concerns within the team, maintaining confidentiality and fostering a supportive environment.

Promote a healthy, balanced work culture rooted in positive principles and ensure the team maintains a good work-life balance.

Ensure transparency and visibility of team statuses and challenges to the executive team.

Continuously raise performance standards within the team and oversee effective onboarding processes for new hires.
- ** Operational Structure**:
Implement effective organizational and team structures to maximize productivity and minimize redundancy.

Develop and maintain mission and strategy level roadmaps, ensuring alignment of initiatives and adjusting strategies as necessary.

Maintain transparency in status, plans, and risks of ongoing initiatives.
- ** Prioritization and Goal Setting**:
Negotiate and define organization-wide goals in alignment with business objectives.

Prioritize technical initiatives and investments in security, quality, and performance improvements.

Facilitate understanding of strategy changes within the team and assess their impacts.

Celebrate team and individual achievements, recognizing and valuing contributions.
- ** Cross-Departmental Collaboration**:
Collaborate with adjacent departments to align long-term goals and roadmaps.

Work closely with marketing, product, and support teams to ensure cohesive progress.
- ** Technology & Product**:
Maintain a deep understanding of technical challenges and proactively address long-term strategic risks.

Participate in budget planning and approve technical investments in collaboration with the VP of Engineering.

Anticipate and influence architectural changes, understanding their holistic impact on the product.
- ** Process and Internal Collaboration**:
Prioritize and invest in technical enhancements in security, quality, and performance.

Implement processes to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality software.

Collaborate with the Head of Architecture and Principal Engineer to mitigate long-term technical risks.

**What you bring to the table**:

- Proven experience in a senior leadership role within engineering, preferably as a Head of Engineering or similar.
- Deep understanding of system development life-cycle processes and alignment with business and IT strategies.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing engineering managers and guiding teams toward success.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments.
- Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Technical background with a solid understanding of software engineering practices and architectural principles.
