The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. Research is organized in five programs: Climate, Air Pollution, Nature and Urban Health; Environment and Health over the Lifecourse; Global Viral and Bacterial Infections; Malaria and Neglected Parasitic Diseases and Maternal Child and Reproductive Health. ISGlobal is accredited with the Severo Ochoa distinction, a seal of excellence of the Spanish Science Ministry.LugarBarcelona, Campus MarWHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORISGlobal is seeking a motivated Data Manager who is interested in taking over and managing activities of the project GOLIAT in relation to the INMA Project. The overall project goal is to monitor radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMF) exposure, particularly from 5G, provide novel insights into its potential causal health effects, and understand how exposures and risks are perceived and best communicated using citizen engagement. Applying an integrative and transdisciplinary pan-European approach, we will i) develop next-generation exposure assessment methods to estimate aggregated RF-EMF dose to the whole-body and organs in young people; ii) identify new occupational RF-EMF sources resulting from 5G deployment and estimate RF-EMF exposure levels and patterns in workers; iii) assess neuropsychological effects of RF-EMF in young people and workers using causal inference, and iv) quantify potential health impacts of exposures at the population level; v) assess effects of 5G on brain function, thermoregulation, and radical stress using in vitro, in vivo, human, and in silico experiments; vi) identify effective means of exposure reduction; vii) better understand risk perceptions to RF-EMF and 5G; viii) apply an inclusive engagement model and codesign communication methods/tools to address RF-EMF concerns and misconceptions; ix) disseminate GOLIAT’s results to stakeholders and integrate them into policy actions; x) implement a broader analysis of the societal and ethical implications of RF-EMF and 5G; and xi) develop a FAIR data infrastructure. The expected results will serve to deliver robust evidence on the potential effects of (5G) RF-EMF exposure in young people and workers, and contribute to developing guidelines for exposure prevention/reduction from new generation radio-communication networks including internet of things.MAIN DUTIES AND TASKSPrepare INMA databasesCarry out data cleaning and quality controlDocument and archive all data for easy use in future researchConduct appropriate statistical analysesProvide input on the interpretation of the resultsPrepare tables for use in publications and reportsProvide input on development of methods sections of publications and reportsProvide statistical support to the researchers of the groupTRAINING AND EXPERIENCE /QUALIFICATIONSEducated to diploma level in biostatistics, bioinformatics or related topicsExperience in processing and managing of complex dataExperience with relevant software packages: SPSS, STATA, RExperience in epidemiological, medical or laboratory sciences an advantageSKILLSResponsible, flexible and with problem solving skills.Team player, yet capable of working autonomously, rational and critical thinker.Motivated professional capable of setting and meeting deadlines and delivering research outputs to the required standardExcellent organization and team-working skills.Effective verbal and written communication skillsLANGUAGE LEVELProficiency in English (written and spoken)CONDITIONSDuration: 6 monthsStarting date: January 2025Salary Range: Technician I DHOW TO APPLYApplicants must fill in the request form and include the following code reference position: DataManager_GOLIAT_Dec24, attach the CV and a Cover Letter.
