If yes, keep readingAbout the roleSeqera is seeking a visionary Head of Infrastructure Engineering to lead our Infrastructure, Software Deployment, Release Management, Engineering Productivity, and Security initiatives. In this critical role, you will ensure the seamless operation, scalability, and security of Seqera’s platform and internal systems.You will build and lead high-performing teams, drive operational excellence, and implement best practices for deployment, monitoring, and incident response. Your responsibilities include managing cloud services, ensuring system reliability and security, enhancing engineering efficiency, and aligning infrastructure with business objectives. Expertise in cloud infrastructure, team leadership, and healthcare compliance is essential.As a key partner to leadership, you will shape the vision for technical operations and align it with Seqera’s broader business and product goals. Your contributions will directly support our mission to deliver reliable, secure solutions for research and healthcare customers.Flexibility is essential, as our fast-paced startup environment demands adaptability to evolving priorities, scaling teams, and advancing technologies while staying aligned with changing customer and market needs.Key ResponsibilitiesOperational LeadershipBuild and lead the Infrastructure, Release Management, Engineering Productivity, and Security-focused organization by hiring, mentoring, and developing top talent.Ensure the smooth operation of Seqera’s SaaS and IaaS products in production, and establish operational excellence through observability, scalability, and incident management.Oversee cloud and on-premises release processes, ensuring seamless and reliable software deployment.Drive technical solutions that improve system reliability, scalability, and performance, aligning operational excellence with company objectives.Strategic ExecutionDefine and execute a roadmap for infrastructure and technical operations that supports current and future business needs.Establish and enforce best practices in security and compliance, ensuring adherence to standards like GDPR, HIPAA, and ISO.Own the strategy for cloud infrastructure cost management and optimization.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, Engineering, and Customer Success, to align operational goals with broader company objectives.Technical ExpertiseLead incident response efforts, ensuring effective root-cause analysis and implementing preventive measures.Champion automation, CI/CD, and DevOps best practices to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency.Manage and optimize distributed computing environments and computationally complex workloads.Build and scale robust systems to support Seqera’s growth while maintaining a customer-focused mindset.About youProven experience leading technical operations teams, including DevOps, Infrastructure, or Security functions, in a SaaS or IaaS environment.Strong technical expertise in cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, and infrastructure optimization.Experience with distributed computing, optimizing computationally complex workloads, and managing high-availability systems at scale.Proven track record of managing large-scale infrastructure and ensuring operational reliability.Experience working on B2D (Business-to-Developer) services, understanding developer workflows and needs.Deep understanding of security, compliance, and risk management in technical operations.Experience in services where compliance (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, ISO) has been a key consideration.Expertise in implementing robust quality management processes aligned with industry standards for research and healthcare environments.Understanding of HIPAA, GDPR, and other privacy regulations relevant to handling sensitive health and research data.Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive alignment across teams.Nice to haveExperience supporting GxP-compliant systems and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards such as 21 CFR Part 11, Annex 11, or equivalent.Familiarity with Compute resell models or experience integrating compute resale strategies into technical operations.Experience with HPC (High-Performance Computing) and optimizing compute-heavy workloads.Familiarity with deploying and managing infrastructure to support regulated use cases in biotech and life sciences.Prior experience collaborating with regulatory, quality assurance, and compliance teams to support audits or inspections.Knowledge of bioinformatics workflows, high-performance computing (HPC), or tools commonly used in biotech research.A track record of enabling secure, scalable platforms for biotech applications such as clinical trials, genomic data processing, or drug discovery.Don’t meet every single requirement?
