Introduction to the Vacant Position The Biomimetic Systems for Cell Engineering Group is looking for a Senior Researcher. Main Tasks and Responsibilities Make strategic and scientific contributions to the development and integration of a bioreactor for a biohybrid actuated catheter. Develop novel microfabrication techniques (micro structuring and protein patterning) compatible with soft hydrogels. Establish assays, optimize experimental procedures, and develop analysis pipelines for experiments of cell dynamics in co‑cultures. Generate original ideas and develop testable research questions within the strategic framework of the project and the research program of the group. Take day‑to‑day responsibility for the organization of scientific and administrative tasks, deliver objectives on time, and delegate work to team members as appropriate. Draft reports to funders and other partners, regularly write research articles for peer‑reviewed journals, and lead seminars to disseminate research findings. Essential Requirements Ph.D. in Biomedicine with postdoctoral experience in bioengineering and biophysics focused on the development of biomimetic cell culture environments. At least six years since obtaining the doctorate (date of doctoral thesis defense; for multiple doctorates, the first one). Scientific and technical contributions: scholarly articles, books, patents, conference presentations, and other works that demonstrate research output and technology transfer. Management of doctoral, master’s, and final degree theses. Awards, mentions, and distinctions. Dissemination and scientific communication activities. Postdoctoral experience at Spanish and/or foreign universities or R&D centers other than IBEC. Mobility or stays while providing services to IBEC. Multidisciplinary qualifications (Physics/Math, Physics/Engineering, etc.) and/or knowledge on bioengineering of complex cell culture environments. Competencies and skills: communication, teamwork, commitment, proactivity, integrity, critical and analytical thinking. High level of English. Advantageous Experience in microfabrication, microfluidics, and characterization techniques (atomic force microscopy and confocal microscopy), surface chemistry and cell culture. Strong background in biophysics, specifically in single and collective migration. Experience in image analysis and data processing.
