Join to apply for the Casualty Underwriter role at QBE Insurance Time Type: Full time Worker Type: Employee Location: Spain, Madrid The Opportunity Reporting into the Casualty Portfolio Manager; to underwrite business in accordance with the business plan and within delegated underwriting authority. Responsibilities Contribute to the delivery of the annual business plan for the respective business unit by making appropriate decisions Apply the reinsurance strategy in order to safeguard the casualty portfolio Participate in all relevant meetings to share and develop strategy, knowledge and best practice Promote the department, division and company to maximize brand leverage Perform underwriting activities in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements Adhere to underwriting standards, instructions and good practice to minimize risk and maximize efficiency Record and measure insurance risks, including DUAs if relevant, ensuring accuracy Understand and comply with reinsurance requirements to deliver business plan objectives Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders to maximize influence and achieve objectives Demonstrate understanding of market dynamics and cycles to enhance performance Identify appropriate learning and development activities to maintain expertise and team knowledge Underwrite insurance risks within delegated authority to meet business objectives, including negotiating rates, terms, conditions, compliance of contracts, and credit control support Review and analyze the portfolio to identify progress toward objectives Ensure timely entry of underwriting and aggregate exposure data in EO systems Contribute to aggregate management and peer review processes Motivate and coach team members to share knowledge and support development About You A high level of numeracy and literacy Proven organizational, prioritization, and analytical skills Demonstrable interpersonal, communication, and negotiating skills Ability to analyze data and use it for decision making Attention to detail Excellent teamwork skills and a positive collaborative environment Preferred Competencies / Skills Thorough understanding of class specific underwriting and reinsurance knowledge Proven knowledge of relevant casualty market conditions Familiarity with QBE underwriting systems Intermediate level proficiency in Excel and other departmental software Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements Knowledge of QBE underwriting process and procedures including EPA’s Strong proficiency in English Inclusion & Diversity At QBE, we are dedicated to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
