This is a hands‑on leadership role reporting to the Director of Engineering, combining leadership, team management, technical delivery, and cross‑functional collaboration in a global environment.You’ll provide strong technical direction while also supporting the professional growth of a team of software engineers, quality engineers and business analysts. The ideal candidate brings a background in software development (strong Java and ideally Ruby on Rails), cloud platforms (AWS (preferred)/GCP/Azure), and experience managing high‑performing teams in an Agile environment.This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in our Barcelona office.First 90 Days30 days – Get familiar with Sage’s technology stack, architecture, and team structure. Meet your engineers, product and architecture peers, and begin shadowing delivery processes.60 days – Begin driving sprint execution, establish team rituals, provide technical leadership on key features or services, and start owning delivery outcomes.90 days – Shape roadmap delivery in close collaboration with product and begin mentoring engineers and business analysts to elevate delivery standards.Meet the TeamYou’ll report to the Director of Engineering and lead a cross‑functional squad based in Barcelona, working closely with product managers, architects, cloud ops, QAs, BAs and engineering counterparts across the UK, Europe, the US, and South Africa. Your team consists of engineers (from graduate to senior) and business analysts.
