About the opportunityAs the Director of Accounting and Reporting at N26, you will be responsible for the financial reporting and accounting processes of our digital banking platform. You will ensure that the financial data we report is accurate, that we comply with the regulations, and that we have a solid financial strategy. You will lead a team that will work to increase the transparency and efficiency of our financial processes, contributing to the growth and stability of the company.In this role, you will:Oversee the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with German as well as international accounting and financial reporting standards and regulatory requirements, including coordinating the year-end auditOwn the book close end-to-end and ensure a fast close within 3 business daysLead the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reportingLead the accounting and reporting team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to ensure high standards of work and continuous improvementBuild a strong interface within Finance and with key stakeholders outside Finance (e.g. Treasury, Risk, Product, and teams responsible for subledgers, source systems, and data sets, especially those relevant for financial disclosures)Ensure the integrity of financial data by implementing robust internal controls and conducting regular audits to identify and mitigate risksPrepare and present financial reports to senior management and the board of directors, providing insights and recommendations for strategic decision-makingStay informed about changes in financial regulations and industry trends, and advise the company on the implications for financial reporting and complianceWork closely with external auditors during annual audits, ensuring all necessary documentation is provided and all issues are resolved promptlyDevelop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, and financial institutions, to ensure transparency and trustDrive the adoption of new technologies and develop our ERP system further to optimize our accounting and reporting processes, improving efficiency and accuracy in financial managementWhat you need to be successful:Background:A university degree with a focus on Finance, Controlling, Audit or comparable majorsPreferably Wirtschaftsprüfer, CPA, ACCA or equivalent qualificationAround 10 years of work experience in a Big4 or Financial Consulting environment within Financial Services, alternatively comparable work experience in a
