The Software Engineer - Python at Openchip will contribute to building and maintaining the developer-facing tools and libraries that power our AI OS platform. You’ll work closely with engineers across AI optimization, cryptography, and infrastructure to design clean, user-friendly APIs and automation pipelines that streamline how models are integrated, optimized, and deployed. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys crafting well-structured Python code, has an appreciation for clean software architecture, and wants to work at the intersection of AI infrastructure and tooling. You’ll help ensure the developer experience across our stack is intuitive, efficient, and scalable. You will report to the Director of AI Model Optimization and collaborate with them to plan and execute the shared strategic roadmap. Key Responsibilities: Build and maintain internal Python libraries and developer tools used for model integration, deployment, and optimization. Implement APIs and abstractions to simplify how researchers and engineers work with the AI OS platform. Write clear, modular code that prioritizes maintainability and reusability. Collaborate with teams working on AI model optimization, secure ML, and compilers to expose their capabilities through well-designed interfaces. Contribute to documentation, CLI tools, testing infrastructure, and automation scripts that improve developer experience. Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and platform-wide quality efforts. Qualifications: More than 5 years of experience in Python development, ideally building internal tools, ML infrastructure, or platform SDKs. Solid understanding of software architecture and coding best practices (e.g. modularity, testing, packaging). Experience working with machine learning workflows (training, evaluation, deployment), or a strong interest in this area. Familiarity with at least one ML framework (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, HuggingFace Transformers). Comfortable working in a Unix-based environment and using Git, Docker, and standard Python development tooling. Experience with model deployment, API design, or ML experiment tracking is a plus. Soft Skills: Eager to grow within a high-impact engineering environment. Thoughtful communicator who values clarity, simplicity, and collaboration. Enjoys building tools that make other engineers’ lives easier. Self-directed, with a strong sense of responsibility and initiative. Curious about how modern AI systems work under the hood.
