Analyst Role – EU Budget & SME Climate Transition Employment Type: Full-time (internship agreement with university possible) Job Functions: Research, Policy Analysis, Stakeholder Engagement, Communications About the role Climate Strategy is seeking an Analyst to support its work on EU budget reform, climate finance, cleantech innovation, and the SME clean transition, with a particular focus on: The EU Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2028–2034 and public funding instruments for the climate transition and clean innovation The SME climate transition and sustainable finance in Spain The analyst will work closely with senior team members and directly support project delivery through policy research, analytical work, and external engagement and communications. Who you’ll work with You will be based in Climate Strategy’s Madrid office and work with an international policy and research team advising European institutions, national governments, foundations, and private sector actors on climate finance, competitiveness, and SME transition. What you’ll do Research & analysis Conduct policy and financial research on EU budget instruments, climate investments, and SME‑relevant funding mechanisms Analyse EU legislation, policy documents, and national initiatives Support preparation of policy briefings, presentations, and analytical materials Develop case studies and stakeholder mappings External communications & engagement Support preparation of external‑facing materials for policymakers and partners Assist with stakeholder mapping and outreach Contribute to communications around publications and events Support coordination of workshops and multi‑stakeholder initiatives Qualifications Required: Undergraduate (final year) or recent graduate, or up to 2 years’ relevant experience Strong research, analytical, and writing skills Fluent English and working proficiency in Spanish Interest in EU and national policy and climate investments Legal right to work in Spain; based in Madrid Background in EU studies, economics, public policy, international relations, finance, or environmental studies Familiarity with EU institutions and legislative processes Previous experience (internship or similar) in policy research, consulting, think tanks, NGOs, or public affairs Experience supporting events, stakeholder engagement, or policy communications What you'll gain Hands‑on experience working on real‑time EU and Spain policy processes Exposure to high‑level policy research and advocacy at EU and national level Direct collaboration with senior experts in climate finance and budget design Development of analytical, writing, and policy engagement skills relevant for careers in EU affairs, consulting, or public policy #J-18808-Ljbffr
