Analyst Role – EU Budget & SME Climate TransitionEmployment Type: Full-time (internship agreement with university possible)Job Functions: Research, Policy Analysis, Stakeholder Engagement, CommunicationsAbout the roleClimate Strategy is seeking an Analyst to support its work on EU budget reform, climate finance, cleantech innovation, and the SME clean transition, with a particular focus on:The EU Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2028–2034 and public funding instruments for the climate transition and clean innovationThe SME climate transition and sustainable finance in SpainThe analyst will work closely with senior team members and directly support project delivery through policy research, analytical work, and external engagement and communications.Who you’ll work withYou will be based in Climate Strategy’s Madrid office and work with an international policy and research team advising European institutions, national governments, foundations, and private sector actors on climate finance, competitiveness, and SME transition.What you’ll doResearch & analysisConduct policy and financial research on EU budget instruments, climate investments, and SME‑relevant funding mechanismsAnalyse EU legislation, policy documents, and national initiativesSupport preparation of policy briefings, presentations, and analytical materialsDevelop case studies and stakeholder mappingsExternal communications & engagementSupport preparation of external‑facing materials for policymakers and partnersAssist with stakeholder mapping and outreachContribute to communications around publications and eventsSupport coordination of workshops and multi‑stakeholder initiativesQualificationsRequired:Undergraduate (final year) or recent graduate, or up to 2 years’ relevant experienceStrong research, analytical, and writing skillsFluent English and working proficiency in SpanishInterest in EU and national policy and climate investmentsLegal right to work in Spain; based in MadridBackground in EU studies, economics, public policy, international relations, finance, or environmental studiesFamiliarity with EU institutions and legislative processesPrevious experience (internship or similar) in policy research, consulting, think tanks, NGOs, or public affairsExperience supporting events, stakeholder engagement, or policy communicationsWhat you'll gainHands‑on experience working on real‑time EU and Spain policy processesExposure to high‑level policy research and advocacy at EU and national levelDirect collaboration with senior experts in climate finance and budget designDevelopment of analytical, writing, and policy engagement skills relevant for careers in EU affairs, consulting, or public policy#J-18808-Ljbffr
